I do, but I have been on the street since I was 12, and it was just the thing to do. Do you?

Ofcourse, I'm always friendly to other riders. It's amazing how anti-social some people can be though.

    I second that.
I try to wave to all riders but it really erks me when some cruiser riders don't wave or those snob BMW riders. What's their deal?

Here in Portugal besides the BMW riders some Harley riders as well as Ducati riders think they are special and they don't wave back...

I wave too. Harleys very rarely wave back. Before my VFR, used to ride a Yamaha cruiser, and Harley would not wake back even on that. And you can forget about the large Harley riding groups :)

Yeah my Buddy Hoss who is large enough to back himself up waves and if harleys do not wave back he gives them a finger to look at in their rear view mirror... It's funny to watch him on the bike...if you talk to him for a few hours and get to know him it's like you can hear what he is saying inside his helmet without a radio about other riders...

Here in the U/K we nod ,but only to anything comming towards us that resembles anything over 125cc, as usually they are just mainly kids who dont appreaciate big bikes.
We wave to anyone in the opposite direction if we have seen police with cameras, to slow down!

I wave to most riders, unless they ride 4g's and reside in Olympia WA :ninja:

I wave to anyone on two wheels, except for scooters and bicycles, unless I'm on my bicycle, then I'll wave to other bicycles, but nobody with a motor- it's all very confusing

Here is Australia (at least in Canberra), you generally get an obvious nod of the head. There are some exceptions like Harley riders but most of the rest are just of scared of Canberra car drivers as the rest of us

A nod will suffice. dont do anything to make yourself crash. Sounds like you need a differant bike. I will trade my lightly used gen 1 for your yellow bike, bt you may have to lay some cash down too, cause yellow aint my color.

I wave 98% of the time. The other 2% when I don't wave is when I'm in a tight turn. I wave three fingers for a trike, two for a cycle, and (the middle) one for asshats. Most HD riders wave back, but some are just posing so hard they're obviously just too cool to do so.

I have always waved to everyone, unless traffic makes it dangerous (like, I am taking off from a light). Then I cuss about the clowns who don't wave back, as noted usually H-D riders.

Aside from my VFR, I also ride a Victory (Hammer-S, baybee!) AND I also own an HD Electra Barge and a Softail Deuce. I wave at anyone and everyone. Hell, I wave at dogs. See, when I'm up on two wheels, I'M HAVING FUN! And there's only one or two things in the world that feel better than riding and if I can figure out a way to...well, that's another post for another day.

Thing is, regardless of what I'm riding, there are those who wave back and them that don't. Can't say that HD or BMW riders wave less when I'm on the VFR, or sportbikers wave less when I'm on the Victory, etc. etc. I can't say it bothers me one way or the other, because I don't know what's going through that person's head at the moment, you know? They might not have seen me, they might have just avoided an accident...or they might be an asshat, as someone pointed out earlier.

Wave back, don't wave back, I couldn't care less. Bottom line, I'll continue to ride, I'll continue to wave, and I'll continue to to have that s**t eating grin on my face the whole time!

    Ride hard, ride safe,
    Denman

Ditto. Although where I ride (Raleigh, NC area) I don't think I could single out a particular type of rider as being "non-wavers" such as H-D, Bimmer, Sport/Cruiser, etc. I would say that for the most part everyone waves if they can, I encounter a minimal amount of "non-wavers" from all "clicks"; the only possible exception to this are the scooters, but I don't typically wave to scooter riders anyway; I don't REALLY know why except that they are not motorcycles. I will always wave back if waved to by anyone, regardless of their mode of transportation; but I do sometimes feel like a dick NOT waving to the scooter people. Maybe I should start.

When I was on Memorial Day, I was a wave-crazy mo-fo. Of course, being an "American" holiday, there were HD guys everywhere. I think sometimes I kind of caught them off guard, as I'd wave at the last minute and based on pure reflexes they'd wave back. I could see them kicking themselves for waving back to me... hehe.

I'd say that if I passed 200 bikes this weekend, I'd guess 160-170 waved back.
