Joey, where in NC are you? Do you have your bike with you? Or are you going to be coming up from Ga?

I'll be there too. Let's try to be there a little before 10am so we can get rolling at 10am. Glad Ed can make it! Still meeting in Clayton - at Ingles gas station - right? I'll be coming up I-985 - I'll meet Matt and Joey on 441 if you guys are riding straight up from Matt's house.

Hey guys, Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out for the ride yesterday. My friends and I enjoyed meeting you all and had a good time. We made the best of the weather conditions as it were, too bad it wasn't as nice a they predicted. The ride home was a lot more comfortable with more sun than clouds the further east we went. I hope everyone made it home safely. Stay in touch.

yeah Dan, it was cool seeing you and your gang. Thanks for showing me some new roads, I always like to explore new areas. I gotta check out some of those routes you told me about!

But it sucks about matt crashing his bike. At least it's still rideable and his coke bottle made it. LOL

Ed, next time you come along for a ride I could even slow down and show you some techniques. But my recommendation is to practice a lot preferably solo so you don't feel the pressure to keep up. A great "bunny slope" route is to ride highway 9 in the dawsonville/dahlonega area. It has some decent curves but nothing like the tail of the dragon.

And once you get comfortable with that try US 129 also known as blood mountain up in the cleveland/suches area. It's got some real tight twisties that even challenge veterans.

Pictures from April 11 North Ga ride

Pictures from the ride. Once again, I only ended up with parking lot pictures, and no scenic overlooks! Here's a picture of the minor damage to Matt's bike - glad he had on good riding gear. No injuries.

Ha ha, thanks for the parking lot pictures. Hey, we can make it up to you by going to the cherohala skyway for the next ride. There are lots of areas to stop and take some gorgeous pictures!

Matt you didin't ruin the ride. We were going to turn around anyway cause the mountain was socked in with fog. But you definetly need to stop charging into the corners. If you cant stay in your lane (thru a curve) you're gonna kill yourself. Get your bike sorted out and work on your skills. You'll eventually get faster.

Did you guys ride the route that was listed earlier in the thread, or something different. I'm always looking for out of the way routes up around Blood Mountain/ Clayton. I really like 180 from Suches across to 129. If you did some other route, would somebody post up a google maps version to look over? Thanks, Erik (guy that needs to continue riding solo for a while to avoid crashing trying to keep up with the fast guys...)

    Dan,
Thanks for the tips and the care. I am busy about trying to get more seat time and improve by taking MSF stuff. Don't think I wasn't paying attention to you. Au contraire.
It was a great day. Thanks
    Ed
