 I am hoping that someone maybe able to tell me if the piece of metal about 35mm long by about 4mm in diameter with one end flattended out with a hole in it is something to do with my 02' VFR. It was on the key ring when I bought it and the guy I bought it off said he thougt it was for adjusting the chain but didn't really know. Can anyone out there enlighten me if it is a tool of some discription or just a key ring thingeny bob?

can you post a picture of it? If it is on the key chain and being as small as it is (not even an inch long) I doubt it is for adjusting the chain. The tool for adjusting the chain is flat and looks similar to a question mark.

Sounds like the key code. Are there tiny numbers stamped on it?

Beat you to the draw Warnzie - image attached. The top adjuster is for the Pre-load on your rear suspension and the bottom one is for the chain adjuster. The bar in the middle is an extender that fits over the end of each adjuster (its flattened somewhat at one end). If you haven't mucked about with the Pre-load already - watch out it can bite - you could lose some skin off your knuckles!

Think the guy who owned the bike before was having you on....!

    Cheers!

Does it look like it can be used to remove the bolts for the seat cowl?

Don't feel bad; on an '07, the spring preload tool and the chain adjusting tool are one and the same, according to Honda. Except that it doesn't work for the preload adjustment.

The cowl that covers the passenger seat?? Just take the seat off and youll see on the bottom of the seat that the cowl is attached by two simple little tabs which you can unhinge by hand.
