Chance to go back

Hey everyone.
I decided to re-up as I may have the chance to get my old 86 VFR 700 back. It's mint and the guy I sold it to cannot ride anymore. Thing is, he wants to sell it for the same price I sold it to him for 5 years ago.
He's put only 1578 miles since purchase and all the goodies are still there.
Tank cover, fork brace, seat cowl, braided lines, etc.
Should I buy it back? He wants 2200.00 for it.
It's booking at 1650.00 (SIGH)

then you havent lost anything...thinof it as he loaned you 2200 dollars interest free and had the bike for collateral.....if he only rode it 1500 miles in five years....theres the interest payments......go ahead get it back.

Yea, when you guys put it like that, I am pretty sure I will. I also did the fork seals and 20wt oil, Progressive springs, air filter, new chain, Ugh.......
I go and look at it again for the first time on the 18th. It's gonna be like seein that old flame again. My heart will be jumpin!

Yes, I was thinking of *show me the money* kind of thing. 2000.00 is what I had in mind. If I show him I am serious and have the cash with me, he just might go for it. Strange thing tho, he was telling me about the optional centerstand on it. When I sold him the bike, it was already there!

 

$2000 is fair if you ask me. close to $0.13 / mile depreciation value.

And if he CAN'T ride anymore that should be more of a push to sell...and there's no way he'll push on selling it back to you for the same price if he used it some. Well, maybe that could happen...but what a dick if he does!

Update!
I got the bike!!!!!!
When I first walked into his garage I couldn't see anything as my eyes were adjusting to the light change. Then, there she was. In the back in the dim lights. I could tell she missed me 'cause a shine came over her as I got closer. Yea, this is the one I gave up 5 years ago. Hello sweetheart. He reaches over, turns the key and instantly she comes to life.
8 years of memories come flooding back like yesterday. Its all there.
The regulator mod with fan and switch, the cooling fan mod, the GenMar risers, tank bra, special button head screws to hold the seat cowl, new chain, etc and the black wheels (got tired of keeping a losing battle with the white paint), and finally that sweet gear whine whispering *take me home*....
