There is only one problem; how in the world is anyone ever going host a better event?

Good luck to the poor soul that tries to host one as good as yours.......

There was talk of a Susanville get together, but that only led to tears.

At the risk of causing someone else to quit, I have some pretty sweet roads up this way.

Well, Where to start. Left home April 1 at about 11:00.

The weather was not too bad when I left, but that was to change in short order. Cold and wet is being conservative. Arrived in Olympia to see RVFR. We had become cyber friends now it was time to meet the gent face to face. A short visit and a cup of Hot Chocolate set me in motion to continue my journey. Arrived in Vancouver Wa at the home of Hootch. Kevin and his wife were most gracious in offering me up a place to stay. They have two great kids there. One of them for sure is going to be an up and coming VFR pilot. It rained, often hard from Olympia to Vancouver. But with all the gear I bought in prep for this trip, I was fairly dry. Except my waterproof gloves were soaked. I had always thought that these were great gloves, but I guess in that driving rain, everything fails.

    April 2.

Got up early and hit the road with Kevin and kid waving me off. Only to turn around and go back after about two blocks cause I forgot something. Sucks loosing your mind. Then the rain really hit. The skies just opened up. Buckets were coming down. Siskiyou Pass was a total B%$ch. 1 C. (34F), traffic, rain, splash, spray, and that volcanic shit they put on the roads there were all over me. I wanted to get through that shit as fast as I could. I have nothing but good things to say about the Michelin Road Pilot 2's I put on this time around. I won't say just how fast I was going but it was triple digits and they held the road true as could be. I did not see any decent weather until I got to Mount Shasta.

Toe Cutter was kind enough to offer his place to stay enroute but he was to leave Sacramento about the same time as I was to leave Vancouver so as great as this would have been, it was not to be. I tried to make it to Stockton but stayed in some place called Lodi. Too damned sore to go further. Reminded me of home here in Chilliwack. The fine aroma of cow shit everywhere.

    April 3

The trip from Lodi to Reggies was from that point on, uneventful, but fast. I arrived there and no welcoming committee. I kind think that is contrary to Diplomatic Protocol. But alas, Reggie remedied this in the shorted order. Turns out I was being watched on the live feed. Hope no one noticed me cleaning house. The troops arrived back to Reggies a few minute later. No sooner had they arrived and someone was insisting to wash my bike for me. WHAT A MAN. He wuld not take no for an answer. But he did miss a couple spots. He assured me that would never happen again once I pointed them out to him. Thanks TC.

I met many of the guys Friday night. Right off, I knew my decision to come here was spot on. What a great bunch. Most went for a ride Friday, but that was not going to be for me that day anyways. I spent some time teaching Other Bubba the fine art of savouring fine Scotch while we awaited everyone else's return. When they did, the party began.

    Full House.jpg

I think there were 17 bikes in the garage. If you closed the doors, it was so full in there you could not pass gas without blowing out a window.

    April 4.

Aaaah! They day we all dreamed about. The ride. And my friends, what a ride it was. The roads and scenery were awe inspiring. Picked a nice place to stop for lunch. Didn't matter a bit that the park was roped off and marked as closed.

    Lunch Break.jpg

The ride in the afternoon was even better than the morning. Several Pix have been posted by others. I have never ridden so hard and wild even in my previous life. By time we got to the coastal hwy, my hands were cramped around the grips of the bike. Had to be pried off. I even had the chance to lead the pack for a bit. Only because a few of the better riders stopped for photo ops. Quite honestly, once down at the Coastal Hwy, I was so exiliarated, I felt like a teenager again. Now to the beach where we met some georgious California Girls sunning on the beach.

    Claifornia Girls.jpg

Had the waves been a bit bigger and I had a board, and I knew how to surf, and I wasn't too fat to surf, I would have really been able to "Hang Loose".

    Hang Loose.jpg

Ride is over and we are back to Reggies. Reggie gets sworn in as my first Commissioner of the Randy's Crazy Motor Police (RCMP). This was accomplished by the presentation to him of an Officail Apron of the RCMP. Here he is just returning from his first patrol of on of my out-posts.

It was clear from the beginning, he needed staff to help him with his duties. I am honoured to present to you Deputy Long, Secret Asian Man of the RCMP from the UFRR.

    April 5

Sunday morning brings about yet another short ride. Ride your own ride. Have you ever heard that one before? Well I have. But noooooo. I gotta keep up...or try to keep up with someone. One real tight corner, and an old man coming the other way in a van, totally on his own side of the road and down I go. Minor cosmetic stuff to the bike but picked it up, and on we go. Later that night, I found a big Jesus boo boo on my left leg. Don't know how the hell that happend seeing as I fell over on my right. But alas, all good things must come to an end and Randy had to carry on to Victorville.

Spent a couple days with brother Rob there and went to see my nephew Derek. He is the subject of Shaynej's Charity ride. He is doing well and is home and up and abut after having a non cancerous tumor removed from his brain. I understand that Stuke and Shayne met with some state employees and had a short visit while they were on that ride Sunday. The Charity Pancake Breakfast at Applebees in Apple Valley was a tremendous success I am told. Thanks again Shayne for your efforts. And Stuke...suck it up.

    April 6

Brother Rob and I went up to Bear Mountain. That too is a very nice ride but there was a fair amount of sand on the road.

    April 7

Start the trek back. Again I was offered places to stay by some of the fine people here at VFRWorld. Problem was, I did not know what my travelling itinerary was going to be so I decided I was going to Motel it the way back. It was windy as all get out the whole day. The sun was shining and the temps were nice, but I was being blown literally all over the road. Sometimes being blown within a few feet of the semi beside be. Now I have said before here on this sight, that I think riding in the wind is a rush. Well this time it was not so much of an adreneline rush as it was a fecal rush. You think I would have slowed down a bit but noooo. But alas, what nature cannot make me do, your fine CHP can. I had a nice meeting with one of your fine state employees outside Willows Ca. I have to make a nice "donation" to the American Red Cross in lieu of contributions to Arnie's coffers. Called it a night at Redding.

    April 8

A solid day of riding got me from Redding to Olympia Wa. Rained most of the trip, but not as bad as the first two days on the ride down. Temperature was all over the map though. Arrived in Oly about 20:30 or so and gave RVFR a call. He came over for a brew or two and a chat of the previous days events. We ended the night with Jay offering to show me a place that has the best Belgian waffles around nect morning.

    April 9

Jay picks me up and takes me to this nice restaurant where they serve up these tasty waffles. Only thing is, they only make them Sundays. Good one Jay. YOU FAIL!

Anyways after breaky, it is the last leg of my ride home. A little rain at first but it dried up nicely. Arrived home at about 15:30 or so today. First on my agenda:

    Home Apr 9.jpg

I know I told some that I did not set the trip guage before I left, but I remembered that I had the bike serviced just before I left. 9 days, 3,210 miles. Weather of all sorts. Meetings with State Police, nearly kissing the grill of a Ford van, and licking the pavement once with monor bike damage. I have developed bunions on my arse and my butt hurts so much, I am afraid to fart. But is was all very much worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat. I met so many great people, for the first time, and could not help bu feel I have known them all forever. I made 20 or so new friends this week end. I look forward to doing it again sometime. All depending on the timing. But I will take more time getting to and from I think.

Thanks Reggie and my love to your great wife for putting up with us all.

    Safe riding everyone.

I gave the wife a heads up that this may be in the making and that if timing is right, I will be going. Hope timing is right.
