Okay today I was out for a ride with some friends and about 30 mins into it the bike just shut off. I look down and all the only the FI light is on. I was doing about 50+ on a straight away and so I tried to get it restarted. I first flipped the kill switch a couple of times with no luck. I then tried the key but nothing worked. I only got the bike to restart after I pulled over and dropped the side stand and searched for neutral. I'm first puzzled that the bike just stopped running for some reason. Could it be the r/r? Could it possible be that the bumps in the road caused something like the side stand censor to kill the ignition? Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? The bike ran fine up to that point and ran perfect for the rest of the trip. I'm also baffled as to why the bike wouldn't restart until I came to a complete stop, found neutral, and had to the side stand down. I will admit to pulling a newb move in the past and hitting the kill switch while rolling down the road. But all I did that time was flip the switch back, pull the clutch in, and hit the starter. Well any thoughts or anything you might think I should look into???

Not saying that the side stand sensor is not the cause, just not probable from what I know. Sounds very much like a problem I had a while back, pull you seat off and inspect all of the wires at the plugs going into the ECM in the tail section. You may find that you have a broken wire to the ignition and is not allowing the bike to remain running.

Do a few site searches on the issue as well, tons of info already in here for the taking.

    Good luck.
