I really had no opinion about any VFR except for that time one blew my doors off at Virginia Beach one time...but I do love this bike and I,m glad to hear that I picked the right one. A buddy of mine "Moto Joe" suggested the VFR when I was looking for a new ride and once I saw the 99 I was hooked.

freewheel, I was kinda the same way. I wasn't in the market for a VFR, but one happened to come up for sale fairly close to me so I thought I'd take a look. I liked it, and the price wasn't too bad. I have to say that usually after any big purchase I feel sick for a couple days...it's just something I've always done...but not with the VFR. Very little buyers remorse, and if I ever do start to feel any, I push the starter button. Just hearing it run makes me feel good. Sounds crazy but it's true. I'm no balls-out racer or anything, I just like to ride. I even feel good when I'm going to work when I'm riding the bike. Of course, I've always been like that about motorcycles.

Square Pants, I could'nt have said it better. I am one of those guys that just ride because I can I don't wait for a nice day or do it to be cool. It's just something I love to do. I got away from it for a few years and now that I'm back I realize how much I missed it. The bonus is that my new job allows me to bag about 250 miles a day sometimes cruising through the Catskills...and they pay me by the mile too......sweeeeeet!~

I have to agree with you there peregrin .. I ride to work every day regardless of the weather because I enjoy it. I am often asked why I don't get a car to drive when it is raining/cold etc and usually no amount of explanation to someone who does not ride will have them understanding the pleasure in being on the bike.

I have had some form of Honda V4s since about '84. I had the '95 when myself and a couple buddies flew into SF and rented both a 5th gen and a 6th gen and rode north on hwy1 to Oregon and a grand loop of Oregon and North CA. In about a little less than 2 weeks we did about 2900 miles. Time on the 6th gen was frustrating to me - the bike is noticably heavier and VTEC goofy plus the linked brakes - it drove me wacko, I couldnt wait to get back to the 5th gen.

The 6th seems to be more a touring bike, the 5th is more the sport bike.

    - So needless to say I went shopping for a 5th gen when I got home..

Bought it in 2004 with 21000 km; all black with golden wheels and ERMAX windscreen.
I painted the wheels with black; K&N air filter fitted.
    The best ride so far.

I currently own two Interceptors, an 85 VF700F with the red, white and blue scheme, in mint condition with over 49,000 miles on it and a 2000 yellow vfr800 with approximately 12,000 on the clock. I’ve owned the 85 for about 10 years and I picked up the 2000 this summer. I ride them equally but for different reasons. I’ve put a handful of 1,000 miles day rides on the 85 and always choose it for longer rides. The 2000 is my choice for the fast and twisty rides.

I've had my VF700F ( in blue version) for around 10yrs now. The more upright riding position is easier on my old back. Also have 1/2 of a V4.....a VTR (V2?) Interceptor that's a fun little scoot and can get over 60mpg!

2002 Vtec. Unfortunately they don't call it the Interceptor here in Australia, which is a pity, because I love that name (could be because of my love for the movie Mad Max and the cars called interceptors in it)

Well I'm fairly new to VFR World. I ride a 1st gen 1985 VF1000R. I scored her for $800.00 and love it. The only question I have for all of you is this. The bike is a disgusting green. I am having it redone this winter. Not sure if I want to paint it all black or restor to the original red, white and blue. any opinion would be appreciated

Have an immaculate '99 50th Anniversary, purchased in 2005 with only 3100km's on it after writing off a Blue '03 VTec ( bought new ) in a mid corner slide with due to gear oil across the road.
