Standard suit should be here in a few days so I can check the fit before I customize mine. Going to have knee sliders added and a couple of other alterations. After seeing the road rash pics in the 'Boots or Pants??' thread I am glad I'm not too cool to wear gear .

The Stich will round out my Arai Profile, AStar SMX-R boots and my AStar GP Pro gloves. I have a Joe Rocket textile jacket and a pair of Scorpion textile pants, but will sell the Joe Rocket jacket and keep the pants. The Joe Rocket jacket is low quality for the money.

Gear up and ride safe this spring folks!

just started saving for one of these myself. I missed riding too many days this winter that I could have ridden if I had had a decent one piece suit that was easy to get in and out of... Where did you buy yours?

    Hi Folks,
Excellent choice! I've had my two-piece 'stitch for about 15 years and it still works great. Best piece of gear I've got for touring. Plus, Aerostich will re-furb it for you for a very reasonable price. The only thing wrong with mine is a zipper pull wore out. Fixed it with a zip-tie until I need to send the suit back for re-furb (if that ever happens).
I believe you can only purchase them from Aerostitch.
    Cheers!

I purchased directly from Aerostich and I don't think you can buy new anywhere else:

Aerostich/RiderWearHouse Motorcycle Jackets, Suits, Clothing, & Gear

I took my own measurements and used the online sizing tool. They recommended a size and are sending me a suit to try on for fit and to check how it fits while sitting on the bike. I send my feedback to them and they put my suit into production and I send the trial suit back to them. I'll update the thread on how the process goes and how long it takes.

Nice choice. I went through the same process and got a custom suit 7 years ago, it's still holding up very well. I did have a couple zipper pulls break over the years, called Aerostich and they shipped me a packet of new pulls immediately, no charge. Great customer service. What colors are you thinking?

Anybody got a Transit? The folks at Aerostich seem might proud of it.

My first choice on color is black with silver ballistic and second is probably grey with black ballistic. I have a 2008 VFR so those are probably the best choices for my bike.

The suit they are sending for me to try on is grey with black ballistic but she said the particular grey on this suit is discontinued. Not sure how it compares to the "new" grey.

I'll post some photos of my demo suit and the one I purchase.

I've got the old grey ballistics, it's basically army green, not grey. The new grey looks good on their website.

    Craig,

Looks like you got what you paid for...15 years! Most folks don't stay the same shape that long, but one nice thing about the roadcrafter is if it happens to shrink  over the years they can let it out for you.

I'm on my second 'stich, both red on black (matches the fastest color bike well). As mentioned above, I got too fat for my first one after 14 years and got directly into another. I looked at alterations on a two piece. They'd do the jacket but not pants. I sold my 1995 suit on E-bay for over $300 and bought a new 2 piece. I wouldn't have been much better off financially by altering the jacket and buying new pants, so I'm glad I got a fresh one and the upgraded armor.

You will not regret your decision. There isn't a better made, better supported, and versitile suit out there IMHO. Some folks run from the price, but once you see what used ones fetch in decent shape, it's hard to not justify one.

BTW, I also have Combat Touring boots from early 1995. I had the "pleahter" gauntlet replaced with real cow two seasons ago. They are ready for another decade and a half. Great quality stuff.

Slightly off topic, but not much. About four years ago i bought a Darien Jacket. It works great with the different bikes i ride from time to time. It has held up very well. In fact it still feels new and not "broken in". After using it for a while, i decided i need to buy the one piece suit. But, every time i get around to pulling out the card, something more pressing comes up.

I have loved aerostich since the 80's when i was a kid. All the moto mag guys wear them and rave about their quality. There is something to that old saying.... you get what you pay for.

The stich people are proud of their products for a reason, they are the best. On my bike i dont care what i look like, i care about the function of my protection! Its much much less expensive to buy a suit than a skin graft.

Ok, ill climb down off of my soapbox. Enjoy the suit and let us know how you like it. Ill get off of my butt soon and order myself one.

My Aerostitch is about fifteen years old too. Yep, they are pricy but for what you get and the customer service that is tossed in they are great. One part of my two piece now a three piece, is the vest thing that zips to the pants. Way cool catalog too.

I ain't real hot on the polarfleece type liners. They are a little too pricy for what ya get IMO. When it's nippy out a good heavy wool sweater works. Dare I mention Pendelton since we are on a style and product roll? Another liner that I just got that works great is an elcheapo jacket I got at WallyWorld on closeout for eight bucks.

Like reg71, I'm scamming on getting a 'stitch' too.

My Joe Rocket street suit is starting to show its age.

I have started my coffee can savings plan. I looked at some cheaper options but after talking to the wife, I have decided for once in my life not to be a cheap ass. I am just going to keep saving until I can go for the good stuff. I have never heard one bad review of an aerostitch suit so I am {eventually} gonna do it. Then when I do, I'll take a trip and do a decent review for VFRW.

I have dropped the big bills on a Transit. I guess that makes me my own guinea pig. I'll have some kinda comment asap.

    Forward Rotated Sleeves

For you guys that have or had one piece Roadcrafters, did any of you have the forward rotated sleeves or were yours standard cut?

You won't regret it! I've had mine for a little over 2 years. No problems at all. With the electric vest(also highly recommended) and heated grips i can go year-round here(Oregon), except for the few days it gets slick. Ridden in downpours for upwards of 2 hours without any leaking. Easy to get in and out of. Luckily haven't had to test the safety of it, but it is reassuring. Huge fan of aerostitch and their products, and would recommend to anyone. I went with gray and hi-viz. I've had the courier bag for about 4 years never leaked a drop. I've also got the rain covers for gloves, which do what they're spposed to.

Mine has the forward rotated sleeves, velcro for knee pucks and the extra fabric in the lower back for leaning forward.
