I just change the oil in my 05, and started it for a few minutes and added a little more to have the level perfectly at the line...

Now I take the bike for a ride around the block and the oil level goes way up... Did I do something wrong ? Will it go down when it cools down ? Should I think about removing some ?

    Thanks again.. much appreciated ..

most likely you added too much because the oil that was circulating had come back down. If it's much over just drain it for a sec or draw a little out with a syringe or turkey baster or something. I like to have mine between the lines and not over. I did a tutorial on it for the 5th gen that has a pic of the oil level if you need a visual, but I'm pretty sure you have it.

thanks reg.. I let the engine run for about 2 minute without driving it, and the oil level went back down.. I'm not sure anymore.. I might not bother and leave it like that..

You have to check the level with the engine cold and with the bike in the central stand, if its over the max level mark it may cause damage...

Make sure that you don't screw it in to check the level.

That's completely normal; you have to check it shortly after a brief cool down. Check when completely cold and it may look low because it's all drained to the bottom of the engine; check when fully hot and it looks high because it hasn't yet flowed back down to it's actual level. Assuming you changed the filter along with the oil, if you put 3.3 quarts in then it's correct. A smidge up or down affects nothing.
