Hi, could someone tell me if there should be a washer on the oil drain bolt of a 2005 VFR. I drained the oil and i'm worried I might have lost the washer, not sure if there was one there in the first place.

All I see on the bold is some kind of aluminum washer embedded into it.. can that be changed ? Is that a crush washer ?

Any info would be appreciated.. !!

    Yes there is a washer,
Yes it is an aluminum crush washer,
You are supposed to replace the washer every time..don't sweat it, just go get a new one. (Might as well get a few at the same time so you always have one on hand)

if you stripped it you would know... did you cross thread it? if it aint leaking don't tighten it any more. keep an eye on it. or take it to a shop and have them rethread it..(although I'm not sure it can be done with aluminium)

thanks crustyrider.. that's what I was hoping to hear.

You would think it would leak if it was stripped or cracked.. I will keep an eye on it.. but I think I will be ok. I had to motor runnin for 3-4 minutes and no leaks.. lesson learned .. !

You really should invest in a torque wrench, even a non-digital version. They give torque specs for a reason and following them can really save you headaches (and give you peace of mind that a job was done correctly). Good luck.
