    I posted this thread yesterday, but I'm thinking maybe I put is somewhere that it can't be seen? (Sorry if I double posted) Not a single comment in over 12 hours!! Perhaps 12,000 VFRW members are politely telling me to get lost. :eek:

    Anyway, here was my thread:

    I know there's probably a dozen threads on bags, but I just can't find what I'm looking for.

    I have a 5th gen, with a high-mount exhaust, so I need to make sure the exhaust won't be in the way.

    I'm looking for some simple bags. I don't need lots of storage - if I could hold a change of clothes and basic toiletries, maybe a "heavy" shirt, and some rain-gear, that would be fine. Being able to hold all this plus a spare visor would be a bonus.

    I wouldn't mind having a bag that was on the back, since I don't ever ride 2 up. I can either put the cowl on or leave it off - I like the way the bike looks either way, but I don't know if some bags will only function one way or the other.

    I've looked/considered the magnetic tank bags, but there just not my style.

    I'm tired of taking the backpack and using the fishnet bungee to hold it down.

    Not overly concerned about theft, but if there was some basic security (i.e someone has to unscrew the grab handles to steal the bag) that's a plus.

    Being waterproof is obviously an advantage as well, although I guess that's a lot to ask for in a soft bag. While I've done it, I'm not a fan of riding in the rain. (yea yea, I hear the "sissy" comments, lol).

    Price is something to be considered, Yes, cheaper is better, but its not like I'm limited.

    I definitely don't want bags that are going to be flapping and vibrating all over the place as I ride down the road.

    Thanks in advance for your suggestions, comment and opinions.

    I think I felt the same way you did when it came time to get bags for the bike. I really didn't want a tank bag, didn't need much storage, waterproof, ride alone, tail bag ok. Soooo, I found a bag that suits me fine. It's a GEARS bag model 100164-1. The thing is that this bag can go on the tail or on the tank, it's large enough for a change of clothes when you run to the shore, weatherproof. I got rid of the bungees that came with it and got better ones(I wanted longer bungees). I actually use the tank bag alot now since all you have to do is drop it on the tank (magnetinc). And I really didn't want a tank bag. I can a couple things from the store without having to take a backpack. I'll try and take a pic for ya if you need a better look. I'm in Wilmington, DE if your close.

    I like the Cortech full size bags. They are angled on one corner, which is exactly why I got them for my SV650, as the stock muffler is similar to a 5th Gen in location. They also work with a 6th Gen VFR;

    Cortech :: Luggage :: TriBag Saddlebag

    They hold a lot of clothes, they have rain covers included with them, but they have no security features whatsoever.

    Thanks guys - good stuff. I appreciate the pictures too - that's great!

    I kinda like those Cortech bags - although I'm still searching.

    With any of these bags, am I going to have an issue with my exhaust, considering its a high mount?
