I might get to go. my wife decided to sign up for 6 days a week. if i can get the cash in time to fix the bike with a few days to test it out then i can go.

Whats the plan as to which side of the border we're riding on. I just realized my passport expires at the beginning of May. Damn! Gonna renew it this week. Hopefully I get it in enough time to cross the border...

 

hey yall. remember. you must have a passport or other doc before going to canada if you want to get back. if you invited some non vfrworld people please pass this message along.

as of feburary of this year you MUST have a passport or other approved travel doc or you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENDER THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA.

this law was just created this year.

general consensus is first day in us second in canada. hopefully i can find a campground near a hotel sowhere i can do some grillin and where people can go to the hotel for the night if that is what they pefer.

 

That sounds good. I'll keep you posted on my progress with the passport. Working night shift makes taking care of these things a PITA. Gonna try and apply on Monday morning. Got my app filled out and my pics today

 

How many miles are yall wanting to ride each day? just the us side alone is 500 miles. with a little sight seeing thats pretty much all day.

 

Doesn't matter to me. I'd at least half of that at a minimum. And I guess it also depends on what time everyone gets there. I know its a three hr ride for me. Let's get some feedback.

 

500 is more then enough , if we want to stop and see something...

 

Just an update on the passport issue. Went and did my application this morning. It'll be here in enough time but if we stick to the May 30 date nobody needs a passport. The law doesn't go into effect till June 1. The only thing anyone needs is drivers license and birth cert. I'd bring birth cert just in case. So if anyone is worried about not having a passport you can stop. We'll just make it. It's F*$%ing snowing!! That's BS if you ask me but hopefully it's almost outta here till next winter.

Also, for any Ohio rider's going, or anyone that has to pass my place on their way. I live about 45 min west of Erie. If anyone want to meet at my place Friday the 29 we could grill out, get a bon fire going and chill for the night. I have plenty of room depending on how many people we're talking about. 16 acres if you want to camp out but room inside too. Just an idea, let me know.

 

Well, Hell, if you were going to ride that route the weekend they're doing this and I go with them, I'd ride with ya from Niagra to Detroit. Timing...



To those of you who don't have passports- I'd suggest getting them anyways even if you'll "miss" the deadline. Heaven forbid something should happen when you're over there and get delayed overnight or something.

They're pretty expensive but they're good for 10 years and if you ever go anywhere else you're all set.


Who all is heading to Niagra from Michigan/Ohio? I think I remember slothrop saying he'd go through Sault St. Marie in the U.P. but that's out of my way, and more interesting of a ride for him anyways.

Ill get the route posted soon. im thinkin of starting around the mid middle under lake ride west then up around to the top in canada. A bit shy of the middle. Then ride back.

Dont really have time to ride compleetly around the lake in 2 days. esspicially if we actually wana see the falls.

It is looking like im not going to be able to go. I am starting a business and kinda sunk all my money in equipment. therefore no fixy my bikey. ahem, sry.
