I've tried to search for the answer to my question with no luck so please excuse me if there is a post up for this question. Anyways, I've got the 07 RWB VFR and I am trying to add power for my GPS that is controlled by the ignition. I was wondering if someone could tell me the most convenient place to tape into an ignition wire and where and what color.

Currently I have a converter box that I made running strait from the battery and it is pulling power when the bike is off. I didn't ride it for a week and the battery was dead. I may need a new battery too but I still don't want to be drawing from the battery when it is parked.

    Thanks for the help!

    What you need is.........

There are many thread about this mod. Tap the HOT wire to your light of the license plate. This will shut off when you turn off the bike. Check my photo gallery for set up pictures. If you need further assistant just ask.

    something to think about

good idea to tap into the tail light wire. might be more specific as to say the parking lights as they are on when the bike is. another thing to think about is that if you are going to be pulling any type of real power (more then say 2 or so amps) you may want to add a relay. this way you will only be pulling a few milli amps from the factory light wire, will not run the risk of blowing a fuse on the factory line and then you can power up to 30 amps off the battery with this little device. they are cheep, around 10 bucks or so and will really take the strain off of the factory system.

    hope this helps.

    Great tip

Thanks for the tip bounce man! I actually found a small plug on the left side of the bike that powers the radiator fan (2 wires ground & 12V). The plug is before the thermostat so there is no interference in the connection other than the ignition. I ordered the matching plugs for this connection and T'd off from this location because I needed the power up front and didn't want to run a wire up from the taillight. Everything works great; I am pulling 2 amps to a gps and Bluetooth converter but I am going to take your suggestion and add a relay. I may add other stuff on later.

    Thanks again!!
