Hi All, I live in Tokyo Japan, have been riding for just over a year and my current bike is a CB400S, which I love. I think the VFR800 would be a good next step for me, and I am interested in buying one. I think the 98-01 Gen 5 model without the V-TEC is swaying me, and there is no shortage of good condition used bikes here. I am 95kg and 190cm tall and would appreciate any advice on how to buy, best mods to look for etc. Yes I have searched the forums, but there is soooooooo much information it is difficult to find what I am looking for. :ninja:

Lots of newbs lately....coolio! Hello and welcome! I have a 5th gen myself, and it all depends on what is most important to you I guess as far as mods go. I have a BMC air filter, two brothers highmount exhaust, aftermarket pegs, aftermarket chain guard, Sargent Saddle, Oxford Hot Grips, Double Bubble Windscreen, Pazzo (adjustable) Levers, dropped one tooth on the front sprocket, and added a speedo-healer. Next I need some suspension upgrades, but that depends on $$$...

Welcome, Stuka has got a good list there. Two bros is a great fit for the VFR. A PCIII is also very desirable. A couple of things to look at when buying used especially with an after market pipe would be exhaust leaks and fuel mixture, lean, rich etc... also check fork seals, if there leaking any oil it could be a sign that the current owner is a wheelie aficionado...not good.
