Sargent or Corbin

Simple question; Which is the better replacement seat, Sargent or Corbin?
Any input is greatly appreciated as I am in the market. It's a hard choice they both look great!

 

Sargent, no contest. The World Sport seat is two pieces allowing more underseat storage.

For some strange reason, Corbin seems to think concrete & rebar make good seat material. I've used a Corbin on both my VFR & my Hawk. I hated the seat on both and sold both. The VFR now has a Sargent and the Hawk had the stock seat recovered by Sargent. To add insult to injury, Corbin is notorious for having piss poor customer service and there is that little problem of them going bankrupt 3 times.

I have some great feedback here, My TL1000s had a corbin so when I sold it and got the VFR I was sure I wanted a corbin, thank God I got to sit on one for the VFR first...The Corbin has one seating position. It has like half rounds in it like a tractor seat, it's comfortible, if thats your spot. The sargent is the same or maybe better quality with more a smooth surface. If you like to move around on the seat, like up to the tank in the twisty's you will not like the corbin.. Hope that helps.....Speed Safe WIll

 

Looking at you picture it seems you've got a 6th generation. The Sargent seat for the 6th generation is not a 2 piece like the seats for the 5th gens. However, they still have the underseat storage which I find very useful for my 6th gen VFR. The Corbin is made of leather so you will need to take care of it to keep it looking new. The Sargent is not leather and is much lighter and this is primarily why I went with the Sargent. I have heard good things about both but the general consensus seems to be to go with the Sargent.

The Corbin Gunfighter on my chopped Harley Sportster looked awesome, but was not nearly as comfortable as the stock seat. Corbin is all hype. The stock seat on my VFR is great, but I may go with the Sargeant for the storage.

 

Okay all good info, were to you folks buy the Sargent from? phone number?

 

Boo Hiss, just talked with Sargent. they don't make a seat for my VFR, only 02 and newer.. sheesh! whats that all about. Hmm guess I'm back to Corbin. though they did say they could make a one of custom. but the whole idea was to get the wife to enjoy thy seat and they don't add that back rest which was the reason for going this way in the first place.. So anyone have a used corbin with back rest for a 4\G VFR?

 

I had a corbin on my 919 and loved it. It took around 500 miles to get it broke in and the passenger seat never broke in since a passenger hardly sat on it.

I kinda like the seat on my VFR so I'm getting it recovered with leather for around $150. The leather will firm it up a little and let me move easier.

I have a sargent seat and Love it. I have not sat on a corbin for the VFR so I have no real feedback for that. Hope you are happy with your decision.

 

I haven't sat on a Sargent either, but I have had Corbins on 2 bikes (BMW K75C and 98 VFR800. Both have been great seats, and the one on my VFR was an enormous improvement on the original - especially for my wife riding pillion.

No problem in the curves here either.

I had a Corbin on my CBR 600 and liked it so I ordered a Corbin for my fiance's Honda pacific coast. 1st it took 4 weeks longer than promised, it wouldn't fit, I was told to next day air it back ($60 cost!) and I'd have it next dayed back within a week. It took almost 2 month's to get it back but only after I screamed and yelled. No apologies or explanations from Corbin. I started a letter on Mororcycle Consumer News about this horrible quality control and service and the letters got so numerous, following my letter, that the editor wrote that it is obvious Corbin has horrid service and doesn't care so MCN wasn't going to keep printing all the letters sent about Corbin.
I, of course, bought a Sargent for the VFR and absolutely love it.

I have a Corbin gunfighter on my 92'. It is a HUGE improvement over the stock seat. I was able to pick the leather seating color and pattern as well as the other areas pattern. I have not sat on a Sargent seat, so can only compare the Corbin to stock. The stock seat on a 92' is a joke. New bikes also come with low quality/comfort seats. My seat, with cowl on or off, looks amazing!!!

 

Sargent is better

I've had both Corbin for VFR 800 and Sargent for VFR 800 and Sargent is, for me, far superior in comfort.

 

I too have been looking for a new seat,
leaning towards the Sargent,

it's cheeper than the corbin,
I found that the corbin on the FZ-1 there is only one riding position on the corbin for that bike, and it dosn't fit my ass.
