I picked up a new 06 at the end of the riding season. (Live in IL) Over the winter I installed heated grips, double bubble windshield, fender eliminator kit, tank protector, and mirror extenders. Looking forward to riding very soon. Any other suggestions besides exhaust. (Lil pricey for now) Thanks, and very cool website.

Thanks for the well wishes. What are "Pilot Road 2s"? Seems the concensus is the Sgt seat? I've been out of biking for about 10 years, happy to get back into it. This VFR is awesome, did 1000 miles in the 3 weeks I had it out before winter hit.

That should have read Pilot Road 2. That is the new dual compound version of the Pilot Road. The sportier tire is the Pilot Power 2CT.

If you are planning on riding more than 100 miles at a time I would say invest in some type of throttle control. I have a simple $20 NEP throttle lock and it took all of about 3 minutes to install. Throttlemeister also seems to be very popular and sturdy product. Mine is not as attractive or durable as the Throttlemeister but it was cheap and and can be engaged with just the flick of your thumb. If you decide to buy the NEP version like mine make sure to get the single cable model made for Yamaha since it is the only one that doesn't require modifcation for use with the VFR. Another popular mod is to modify that stock exhaust. There are several threads around that discuss everything from removing the stock baffle to cutting the stock pipes shorter. If you are looking to achieve a more powerfull throaty exhaust note this is a relatively easy way without spending the $800+ to order aftermarket exhausts.

    Happy riding!!

    Regards,
    Rollin
