    Hi to all,

Riding a VFR 5th generation but thinking about the resurrection of this 87' forgotten in the garage.

Question is,before start cursing the cdi unit for not spark, there is any chance that the problem could be on the pulse generator or some other minor item ?

    regards..

Sometimes people get the names wrong, so, I apologize if I offend your intelligence here, please understand I am only being clear, so we help you correctly. The CDI is the small black box in the tail, behind the break light… aka the Brain of the bike. Bought the size of two stacks of cards laying side by side. The Ignition Sending Units are the small, hand grenade lookin units which have spark plug wires coming out of them.

Your CDI technically, doesn’t run your engine. I mean, it does control in which order the ISU’s fire a spark to the cylinders, but you make the bike crank, (all be it, it wont stay running) Think of your CDI as the rotor of an older model car, and the USI’s as the point sets.

If your bike wont even crank, and try to run, I suggest starting else where.
Whats your current state of getting it to run? Symptoms?
