NGK Iridium IX spark plugs….OK, I’ve done it to both my V-4 bikes now, the '98 VFR and the ’07 ST1300. And it was the same thing on both bikes. I am amazed at how much better they run with these plugs! Start quicker, run smoother and sound better. If you are interested in the best performance, and not the lowest price, check these out. And for the record I don’t sell parts or have anything connection with NGK. I just like their stuffs.

Caution: don't over torque the new plugs!

I put those on my nighthawk. I really just wanted to get some plugs that wouldn't rust, so I bought the most expensive ones advanced had... lol But, nonetheless I wasn't disappointed. Rusty plugs look like shit on a standard bike. And most importantly they performed great too! lol

I'd have to agree. I put in the Iridium plugs when I did the 30,000 mile maint. and the bike really does seem to run a bit smoother and stronger. The old plugs had 15,000 miles on them and I hadn't really noticed that the bike wasn't as smooth as it could have been, the change is so gradual. Now when oiling the chain while the bike is idling there is no hesitation, just a very smooth even idle, and it feels snappier. Of course any new plugs could have felt the same way, but I didn't notice the difference when I changed out the plugs at 16,000 miles and used regular plugs. Just another data point.

Here's the part and stock numbers for Iridium NGK plugs for most VFR's

    86 VFR750F DPR9EIX-9 STK# 5545
    94-97 VFR750F CR9EHIX-9 STK# 6216
    98-2001 VFR800FI CR9EHIX-9 STK# 6216
    2002-2005 VFR800FI IMR9B-9H STK# 4888
NGK only lists Iridium plugs up to 2005
I guess the common assumption would be that the same plug would work through 2009.

I just put the iridium NGKs in my bike and I don't really notice a big difference. The only reason I went with them was the added life of the plug vs the regular ones and I dont want to mess with them any more often than I have to...
