I was thinking of grabbing a used throttle body from eBay, which are typically around $150, but when I checked the FicheFinder it had three part numbers for the throttle body: 7, 16400-MCW-L01, BODY ASSY., THROTTLE (GQ33B A), VFR800'02, NOTES: 6979918 Area Code AC 7, 16400-MCW-L02, BODY ASSY., THROTTLE (GQ33B A), VFR800'03, NOTES: 7373822 Area Code AC 7, 16400-MCW-L03, BODY ASSY., THROTTLE (GQ33B A), VFR800'03, VFR800'04, VFR800'05, NOTES: 7764152 Area Code AC Usually when I see this, it's very obvious that the "newer" parts are altogether-better-replacements, but this time I noticed that the L01 part is marked for a 2002VFR while the L02/L03 parts are not marked for a 2002VFR. This, combined with my vaguely remembering that the VTEC is configured differently for newer VFR's, prompted me to ask before diving in and being sad later. Does the number in the 'Notes' field denote some kind of Honda technical note that offers more information? So, do you think I can use an L03 throttle body in my 2002 VFR? Thanks in advance, --Ed
As far as I know they are identical.....And yes you can use it as long as it OEM not sure about after market parts.
02-05 probably the same. 02-09 maybe the same? i would like to hear the answer to this as im think about finding a used set and doin a little port and polish to em
I would price and get a number at a Honda dealer. Sometimes parts for different years are listed until the part is actually priced or ordered...at which point they supersede to a newer number. Sometimes shop manuals will indicate a difference if there is one. All these parts are almost certainly interchangable, but you don't know for sure until you try it...or find someone else who has. Throttle bodies aren't replaced very often so good luck with that.
