I am the former owner of a 94 VFR750, which I loved, but had to sell for financial reasons. should I upgrade to a 5th generation for my next bike? I think they look a bit sharper, what other significant differences will I encounter?

the big improvement IMO was fuel injection, BUT it comes at a price, with the 5g you get stuck with the linked brakes. they aren't that noticeable, but they add to your costs when it comes to steel brakes lines and such. I have ridden both, and I can feel a little bit of power increase in my 5g, but I have a power commander and aftermarket pipe. It's not huge, though, just slightly noticeable. you might want to go ahead and get a 6g, though. they are easier to buy parts for, but then you lose out on the gear driven cams.

thanks for the reply. I ride a lot, so those gear-driven cams are nice. also, the 5g's look cooler. I appreciate it.

I would say the FI is the single biggest benefit of the 5th gen. That and the parts for the older gens are getting harder to find.

thanks for the advice. also, do you know if Honda ever marketed the VFR in the states in black? Saw a picture of one and they're mean looking.

Not in 5th gen, they were red and yellow only. There was black and blue in other countries. The 6th gen comes in red, white, black, maroon, and red/white/blue.
