What is the displacement of my bike and why is my gas going crazy?

Hey there. I just bought my first bike, an 86 VFR, a few months ago, and am relatively new to riding. I just had a couple of questions. First, I see no labels on the body or anything external that tells me what engine the bike has. It's titled as a 750 Interceptor, but the VIN says its a 700. I heard Honda masked some 750s as 700s to avoid a tariff was placed on them to give leverage to the ailing Harley corp. Any other places I can check?
Also, I haven't been riding much due to the weather and vacations, so a week ago was the first time I filled my tank up all the way and reset the trip odometer. When I hit about 120 miles, the fuel light came in, but only when I was stopped, and went away when I was riding. Is this normal? I thought maybe I am just not filling up the tank right or simply driving too inefficiently, but it is an old bike, so maybe there is another problem. Thanks for reading.

As for displacement, your bike should have a sticker under the seat that will tell you all about it. And yes, it probably is just burnin that much gas. The gas light on it will flicker on and off as the level drops and the gas sloshes in the tank. I know on mine, when it stops flashin and stays on- your out of gas!

If the sticker isn't there, look at the left side of the engine. On the front cylinder case there should be a boss with the displacement cast into it.

if you look at your vin # in it will read RC26 or RC24. A 750 is an RC24 a 700 is an RC26
