All right everyone. I'm new and have bought a 1986 500f. First off...Finally, i have it! This bike was downed by the previous owner, so it needs some cosmetic help. The dude painted everything, EVERYTHING, black.:ninja: Over the decals, over the seat....UGH. It's going back to original, so...does anyone know where to get the decals. I work at a Honda shop in Madison WI, but only some of the decals are available. If there's anyone making replicas, i'd love to know. I'm also gonna need an upper fairing stay ( the guy cut off the front turn signal mounts) and the rear flap/license plate holder. Lastly for now, the rear grab bar. If anybody can give me some advice, please let me know! Thanks!

You know what, I actually have the grab bar from my VF500F sitting on this very table.

I also have my OEM painted side panels, though I'm not letting go of those. But you probably wouldn't want them anyway, the right side has a huge crack in it from the first time I dropped my bike.... ahhh memories.

    EDIT:

    Hi,
Just to say I had one of those in the late 1980's. Did over 80,000 miles on it, with only a new clutch required. Reckon it could see off my VFR750 in tight curlies.

    Good luck

What happened to your bike is exactly what happened to mine.. black overtop the original colours and black paint on the red vinyl. Some people just don't know what they are ruining. Anyway, I'm in the process of restoring mine as well and got the paint done and order decals from xtreemedecals.com. They are decent, but the only problem is that they don't have a kit for the 86, with the appropriate colours they only offer it in a single colour that you can choose. But indiviual orders of all the required decals will be under $100, the most expensive is the tri-colour wings in black, white and gold at $32 for the pair.
    I'd check them out anyway
