So I went to change my spark plugs yesterday. I get to the part where I need to remove the plastic near the radiator. The book says push the middle of the clips in and they will come out. I can't do it. I appearantly don't understand this technological marvel. Any help? Thanks.

If you look closely, you will see that the clips appear to have a centre button. Push on that, and the clip pops open comes loose and easily removed...or something like that.

I could not get the ones off my 99. Did not work like they should. Had to replace 4 of them at $2.50 per from the dealer. It was killing me for a little (but needed) piece of plastic.

Dealer said he breaks them all the time on his own bike.. did not really make me feel any better. The new ones do work as they should (for now).

My bike doesn't have a fairing but it does have those clips. I've always found that a bike key is usually a great tool to press the center button in, it's too wide to push them in all the way through but thin enough to push the center; I've got those type of clips for my chain guard.

On my '96, some of the clips are the push-button type and some have a phillips head to unscrew them.
