    well new to this forum im glad i found on dedicated to the vfr. i myself own an 86 vfr700 interceptor. it is being rebuilt as i bought it thinking it would be a small fix anyway if any of you riders out there want toshare your knowledge on any fix would be greatly helpfull

    hey peeps thanks for the warm welcome. i dont know what is wrong. when i got the bike i was told it ran. well i got it there was no battery and the key was broke off in the ignition. the gas tank was rusted out and nothing but the tail lights would work when i hooked up my truck battery to it.:mad: so today i have all plasic stripped off and im going through the manual bit by bit and just waiting on parts i ordered to get here some time nxt week. soo hopefully i can find the problem and have it fixed by nxt weekend

    Sounds like the bike has not ran in a very long time and if so you have alot of work ahead of you. If the tank is rusty my bet the carbs are going to be bad too. If so you need to rebuild the carbs, clean tank, replace filters, clean petcock, remove plugs to oil cylinders etc...All the the things that are required to get a motor back to running condition

    If you have not performed this kind of work I will let you know your looking at a long period of time to get it going again, probably not next weekend. If you want a bike to ride always find one that is currently running with good tags or else you just have yourself a project bike. Just my 2 cents.

    well i know about the motor i already pulled the plugs and sprayed penetrating oil in all four cyclinders. i took a smalll metel ring off the side and attached a wrench on to the motor and it turned no problem so i dont think anything is wrong with the inside pray for me:biggrin:. and my gramps also works on bikes so im not doing all on my own.
