Welcome aboard. The mods you listed are quite popular among VFR owners. While I cannot state HP numbers, almost everyone who has done them has not regretted it. Hop on the search function above and you will find hours of reading on the subject.
    Have fun.

Its definitely worth it! I've modded the hell outa my bike and so far I'm only out about $56 for my BMC filter.

Gutting the cans: maybe 1 or 2 hp but more or less free and amazing sound!
Snorkel removal and Flapper mod: FREE and a few horses here and there on the power band. I have seen the dyno it fills in the flat spots pretty well.

But where the big numbers are is with a good slip on and power commander with a custom tune. This should cost roughly 300 for the power commander and 600 for the slip on, but you'll get 5 to 10 to the wheel. Putting a header from a 98 or 99 VFR or a Motad header(anything without a cat) should be worth about three horsepower.

It all depends how much you want and how you wnt to spend. If you've got five and a half grand you can get 65 more hp from the a&a supercharger... skies the limit welcome aboard!

"Snorkel removal and Flapper mod: FREE"

hey im always up for free modes!! please explane snorkel removal ad flapper mod ... also on every bike ive owned the stock headers have a huge gob of weld on the flange that fits inside the exhaust port , removing that with a die grinder made a differance with throttle responce , is the vfr the same ?

Im not gonna try and bs you, I've never seen the vfr headers off and in person. but the difference between the inner diameter of my stock headers on my cb750 and my vance and hynes headers was immense. But, i dont think you are going to run into this with vfr. I will, however, find out as soon as i get my sandy's garage headers (they're on ebay for about $300).

The snorkel and flapper mods are pretty straight foward so im not gonna go into detail just do a forum search if you need help (i would wait untill you get a BMC filter):

FIRST remove seat, remove just the two front bolts on the gas tank, it will now pivot backwards, there will be a safety cable remove that, now you will have two electrical connectors plugged into the tank disconnect those, prop the tank open or string it open (i strung it tight from the two original bolt holes to the passenger grab handles).

Now you should have full access to the air box, there will be a vacuum line plugged into an actuator, unplug the line from the actuator insert a screw or bolt and zip tie it accordantly, remove the air box cover there should be maybe six screws up top, pull the rubber snorkel out, unhook the flapper from the vacuum actuator and the flap should fall down tucked away closed, you might want to glue it open to sleep better at night...

insert your new bmc filter and reassemble your bike.

your going to love the new sounds it makes!!!

PS while your in the airbox take a look at the velocity stacks, do what you want with them. Mine are gone and i just rounded off the edges of where they were with a dremmel and fine grit sand paper....

Yep constant air flow in. You know how when you hit a certain rpm the airbox opens up and it gets much louder? (not to be confused with vtec...) well what your doing with the flapper mod is having that constantly. ideally the flap should open much sooner than it does. I'm sure this is for noise emissions, it has to be quiet up to a certain rpm. That's why there is that flat spot right around 5 grand. The engine isn't getting enough air before the flap opens.

Search for velocity stacks we had a tread about them last week or so...

I have pictures but I'm having trouble posting them.

    your welcome any time.

yeah the power commander and o2 eliminators are going to make for a much smoother on\off throttle transition and over all power band, but the more and more mods you have done to your bike overall acting together is when you get good gains from the power commander.

well i did the snorkel removal and srewed the flapper down and disconected the vacume hose , there is still 3 feet of snow and -15celcious out there so im unable to see the difference . one thing i was wondering though is i was reading threads on gutting the stockers but im tring to understand the nonweld way and how it benifits . i know what has to be done i just dont understand cutting a inch off each exhaust hole makes a differance ? i stuck a long screw driver down the hole and there is a small bend in 2 of the 4 but i would imagine u would have to cut way more then 1 inch down .anyway maby if someone could post a pic of what the internal stock exhaust looks like or a diagram so i could undertand better . if someoine could do that it would be cool !!! thanks

if you cut far enough back on the end caps, you do not really need to weld them back on. you can just simply bolt your covers back on and no one would ever know the difference...

i just cut the very very ends of the mufflers off. removed those two pipes and then screwed the covers back on.

it still looks completely stock, but sounds way better!

Well, I have finally arrived! I took delivery of my new 2007 VFR today; candy red; brand new off the dealer's floor. It was a little on the cool side here in PA, but I put the layers on and rode it home (63 miles). So I'm up and running and can't wait to keep going. This bike is amazing! The sound and ride is incredible. I can't wait to put some miles in and get past the break in to really open it up.

candy red is the best huh?! im just joking i love all VFRs, 1st gen through 6th gen any color!

when you cut the ends off be sure to cut back almost as far back as possible. as in toward the back of the bike. or else you will go through two layers of metal and it will be a bitch and take forever. also if you go through both layers the inside will be a little loose. you dont want that lol.
