Don't forget that the Buell's are 1125R's not 600's. Almost twice the displacement.

    OK no pink..

    Back to topic sort of..

If we take a look at just "Daytona" It started as an oval on the beach. The ties between HD and what was then the "American Motorcycle Association" aka the now "American Motorcyclist Association (more PC) , run long and deep. The displacement issues are almost as historical as the race itself. ie sidevalves vs Ohv or 750cc vs 500cc or in those days cubic inches; 45 ci vs 30.50 ci Now it's basically the same deal. Pushrods vs Ohc.

Displacement really has very little to do with the "rules" I will point you to some of the wins by Yvonne DuHamel on a kinda small Yamaha 350 or some of the horsepower figures on the now MIA 500 cc GP bikes.

Daytona is sort of the spring opener of spring openers. Like Sturgis it started as a race until somebody invented a way to shove a bigass Harley in the back of a truck so everyone could go to either and do Halloween more than once a year.

it was really weak... boring... 8 guys that could have won the race, 50 guys out for a track day at night... every time I watch it I think "I could do that". I never think that with WSBK/MGP

Awesome race. I was pissed that Zemke and Hayes had a ruff night but it was still very entertaining. The end could've been a little tighter but thats racing. I'm pumped for the new season!

I could do that too if I had one of those 180mph VFR's I keep hearing about.
