Well, my wife sold her VStar this morning, and by this afternoon it was replaced by a wicked 06 white VFR800. It snowed here today, so she hasn't even had a chance to ride it, but is very, very excited. We're hoping to get out for a ride Monday so she can see what it is like.

While she loved the feel of her old V-Twin she just was never comfortable riding a cruiser. We're figuring that this V-4 will give her the best of both worlds, of course now I'm going to have to try to keep up with her and her new ride.

A couple questions. She has asked about risers, and exhausts (too quiet she says already, and hasn't ridden it......) I notice the helibars seem popular as well as the Two Brother exhaust. Just wondering what the opinions are around here.

    Cheers.

Here's a pic from the dealers website, as our camera picked the perfect time to cr@p out on us.

Welcome. There are about 9000 threads regarding exhaust and risers; do a search for them.

Welcome fellow BC'r. You are a little far to met with us on the LMD for an afternoon ride, but maybe some day in the summer, we and you might meet somewhere mutual for coffee. Check this out. You never know. We may be able to arrange something. This is a great Forum

Great Bike! I also have an '06 that I got in the fall. My hubby put helibar risers on it right after I got it. I only got to ride a few times in the fall, but it did seem to make the bike more comfortable.
    Enjoy!!

A couple more pictures taken after my wife stripped off most of the stickers and gave her a quick cleaning. She is jonesing beyond belief to go for a ride, and we thought we may be able to get out tomorrow......but it seems the temp. is now going to drop to -17'celcius......so the inagural ride may have to wait for awhile.

That's a beauty there! Welcome to the forum- this is where you'll find tons of info about your viffer. How many miles and how much did you get it for? Too bad, weather's sucks.

It's an 06, and has been sitting at the BMW dealer since last fall. It only has 11000km on it, and she paid $8200Cdn. for it. Like I mentioned, she is very stoked, and happy with the deal she got. Riding the viffer will be a whole new experiance for her, as she has only e er ridden cruisers....but I reckon she will fall in love very quickly.

We are heading off on a 2 week trip thru Montana, and to the Oregon Coast in July and this ought to make the trip far more enjoyable for her. I guess I'll have to ride clean-up on my cruiser from now on while she waits for me.

Thanks again for the welcome, this place certainly seems a wealth of knowledge.

    Cheers.

Hey Carlo, fancy meeting you here (Mean Dream). I thought about getting the Helibars but didn't want to spend all the cash if i didn't really need them. I tried a set of risers first, like the genMar but made by a forum member, bought them used as well for pretty cheap. Turns out, for me anyway, they added just what I needed, so I saved some cash. I had them on for last years Red Lodge trip and everything was great.

Oh no, they let Kawy riders on here?............

So about these risers you have, how do they fit on the bike, and are they still available? Are you going to be riding the VFR to RL this July? If so, maybe Tracy can sit on your bike to see the difference.

    Cheers.

Yes, I'll be on the VFR this year as well. The risers I have are just like the GenMar ones but were made by a forum member, don't remember if it was here or VFRD. The just slide on under your existing clip ons and add about 3/4" and add a slight rearward amount do to the angle of the tubes. The helibars add about an 1 1/4" but also come back about 1 1/2". There usually are group buys every now and then, so the price gets a little better. Below is a pic of both the Heli's ($279) and the GenMars ($109) they are always available, the ones I got from the forum member I would have to go back and get his name and see if he still makes them. Oh yea, with the risers nothing needs to be reworked, takes about 15 minutes to install, Heli's I have heard need some reworking of the lines, can't verify that though.

Thanks, I've had good luck with the Gen-Mar product in the past. I'll show this to the boss and see what she says. Her #1 priority is to get rid of the homemade smoked windhsield and replace it with a decent one, maybe a double bubble of some sort.

Congrats to your wife on picking up her '06 Trikebubble. I felt the same way as she does about the stock exhaust, too darned quiet. You mentioned the Two Brothers Racing exhaust. I have a Two Brothers Racing Carbon Fiber "Stash" slip-on exhaust installed on my '03. The right side pipe is the actual exhaust pipe, all the exhaust flows through it. The left side pipe is a dummy pipe,it's a lockable storage compartment for gloves, tools, maps, etc. It will drop about 12 pounds of weight off the bike compared to the stock exhaust. The sound from the pipe is a steady droning low muted grumble, definitely louder but not overly obnoxious or unpleasant. It sounds cool once the VTEC engages as well. I sent along some pics for you and your wife to take a peek at. Welcome to the website. Good Luck on your trip this summer, try not to fall too far behind her. :joker: [IMG]

    Thanks again Perry,

So she ordered the Zero Gravity DB shield from our local Honda shop, and was all excited when they called yesterday to say it had arrived. She picked it up on her way home from work and had it installed before I got home. I think she may have VFR-fever.....she was never this excited about her cruisers. The DB shield cost us $118Cdn, which seemed very fair, we got to support our local business, and they had it to us in less than a week.

They also mentioned that they have a set of Scorpion exhaust that someone backed out of buying, that they want to unload really cheap. I think T. said they would sell them for less than $200Cdn, so I'm off to look at them this morning.

"The Beast" as she calls her should be making her first run tomorrow.....as long as it doesn't snow.
