I got the Scorpions put on today and they are sweet. I added a K&N filter for good measure. The packaging said they were "Race Only" and man they are on the money. When I cranked the bike up I fell in love right there. I always thought my TL1000R with Yoshi pipes was the best sounding bike I have ever heard. Not any more!
On another site, I always complained about the performance the VFR offered compaired to other bikes in its price range. Forget that crap! The sound that the VFR belts out with these cans is tremendous and reaches deep down inside like a tuning fork. I highly recommend these for all 6th generation VFRs and JCMotors.com has them for $541.00! Later, JD

    Hi,
can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by 'best sound'? I have two bikes. A Yamaha TDM 850 with a Wolf Racing exhaust which gives my shivers all the time and a 2003 VFR which is a nice ride but boring sound wise. Today I got a new Leo Vince exhaust and without the road legal bafflers the sound is borderline ok. I am spoilt from the TDM and did not really know what to expect from the VFR with the Leo Vinces. They improve the looks of the bike (carbon complements my red bike better than the stainless stuff of the stock exhaust) but the sound is still 'gentleman like'. A friend of mine rides a CBR 1000 RR with a racing exhaust and the sound is mind blowing. My VFR now sounds 'solid and powerful' but not crazy. Maybe the bike character is reflected in what can be achieved by exhausts. Then I would believe that the leo Vinces makes the most of what is possible within the limits of a 'civilized' world. However, I am intrigued by your wording 'best sound'. So what do you mean by that?
    Thanks
    Axel

I put the scorpions on my 03 , wait til you break em in, they start sounding even better. Now that I have the RWB, I'm taking them off the 03 and putting them on it, love em.
The only downfall to them is that if you get honda hardbags they won't fit with the pipes, other than that, HIT THE VTEC!!

Since there are no scorpions available for an 86, I ordered a set for an R1 that I am going to mount on my rwb 750. Got them online for 200 new last week. I posted up pics on a thread that I made for what Im working with. Hearing you say that it sounds soo good is getting me excited to get mine put on.

I mean that as far as the bikes I have owned with aftermarket exhaust, my RWB with Scorpions sounds so different. Deep and crisp with a hint of V-8 rumble. I owned a TL1000R with Yoshi slip-ons and that bike sounded awesome. I have guys at work who still talk about that bike's sound, 8 years later. I believe that when they hear the VFR's rumble, they will change their mind. I have!
    Ride safe, JD

Good news to me! I hope they get a little louder but just a little. When I cranked my bike up after the install, my wife said our two cats ran and our dog tried to crawl under the bed. They thought it was thunder! Problem is, I was in our detached garage about twenty feet from the house! I hope I don't wake the neighbors when I roll out of the garage at 5:00am!

Lol my neighbors hate me too!(gutted cans). The trick is to run it open header once a month or so for a day, so by comparison it doesnt sound so loud... When they have the Poker Run down here I always do it. You cant let those harley guys get too full of themselves lol.

Ok, that's a good description of the sound I have with my new Leo Vinces too. Deep V8 style rumble. Especially when I pull back the throttle and the engine revs down. Seems to be the character of the bike then. It's definitely very different to the sports bike screaming I somehow expected but it has character and I am with you there- it's cool!
    Enjoy riding,
    Axel

Yeah, 75 today and a week ago, 4-6" of snow...go figure. I rode to work on Friday with temps between 34 and 37 but today balanced it out. Here some pics that I promised derstuka. Later, JD

I think maybe what you expected was that higher pitched scream of a supersport. They sound like that, not because of thier pipes but because they are (majority) inline 4's. The VFR has it's unique sound, not because of the pipes, but because it is a V4. Different pipes will produce somewhat different sounds, but all will be in roughly the same frequency. If you don't quite love it yet I can allmost promise you will, especially after you hear a thousand writers and mechanics talk about how much they love the deeper roar of a V4.

    Have good one!
