Hello all, I am the proud owner of a 1986 VFR 750F that I just purchased last week.It is a bit of a basket case but I look at it as the perfect project. It runs but is a little sluggish, I'm thinking because it has a Kerker 4 to 1 installed. My plans are to install a K&N filter and modify(remove snorkel) the airbox and I was wondering if this would require re-jetting the carbs? I'm also having the forks rebuilt along with new bearings throughout. The bodywork was in really bad shape so I am leaning toward making it a streetfighter with Ducati Seat and Tail, modified rear subframe, bar-end mirrors, digital dash with Ducati Monster headlight and fairing. Also the emissions cannister and lines are shot, I was wanting to remove and was wondering if a kit is available. I would appreciate any help or advice that anyone has. Thanks.

    Russ

    Hey Russclimber,

It has been a long time, so I am not sure how to answer the airbox questions other than when you rejet you have to remove the snorkel , change filters and usually play with drilling holes in the airbox top depending on the jet. Best bet is to work in stages and see what works best. If you are going to mess with the forks try to find a complete front end, forks, triple clamp and wheel off the CBR600 f2. They are much nicer and bolt right up after you weld the stem from the steering stem from your current lower triple clamp on the f2, with a couple other minor changes. As for emmision cannisters, I would swear that I just pulled mine off back in 86 and plugged the carb hoses. You might also try to check with TOE CUTTER that bastard has a sweet 86 and I'll bet he doesn't have an ounce of emmisions on it anymore. Don't remember running any on mine either.
