Since John Deere was born in 1804, If what I say pisses him off, I think I can take him in two out of three falls. In a tractor pull he would probably win.

My uncle Paul has a whole different take on this. He raises popcorn and Orville Redenbacher buys his whole crop.

Words are what you make of them, my thinking was more of a description rather than recognised class. I see the Z06 and new ZR1 as proper Supercars but the '00 LS1 Corvette more as a rough fast grand tourer much in the same way the old Zx-9r or 929 'Blade were once Superbike's then without changing turned into rapid Sportstourers by perception.

BBR 125D Ferrari 456 Station Wagon Sultan del Brunei 1998

Might not look the fastest, or even go the fastest, but damn it's cool to haul stuff at over 100mph...

This is 1 of 7 rare $1.5 million dollar Ferrari 456 Venice Station Wagons in the world. It is a 442hp limited-edition V12 which was designed and built by Ferrari styling house Pininfarina for the Sultan of Brunei back in 1996.

As wagons go it mightn't be near as classy as the 456 Wagon but with a 419hp LS3 V8 in GM's Aussie HSV R8 Wagon sold here isn't a bad tin lid hauler at a tiny fraction of the Ferraris price.

That was fun. Here are my comments on your cars and what I think the bike equivalents are:

Honda Accord Coupe V6 - My original pick. (Okay, so maybe it does need a tad more HP.)
    68 / 69 Chevrolet Camaro = 69 Honda CB750 (A classic too I might add.)
Acura NSX = Suzuki GSXR 750
08 Mitsubishi Outlander = Suzuki VStrom 650 (I have a number of friends with these. Great bikes.)
    Honda S2000 = Honda CBR 600
93 Honda Accord = 92 Honda Nighthawk (My old bike. Solid! Standard! Reliable! My last car was a 1985 Accord and I got it up to 250,000 miles.)
BMW 6 Series = Yamaha FJR1300 (Or maybe the Honda ST1300.)
Nissan GTR = Suzuki GSX1300R (Busa! Definitely not a VFR.)
    1999 BM5 M5 = Agreed (Although maybe a little too luxury?)
    Chevrolet Corvette LS1 = Yamaha R1
Acura TL = Agreed (Almost same car as Accord, but more sporty and luxury.)
Toyota Supra = Maybe (Depending on the year of the VFR and Supra.)
Ferrari 456 Station Wagon = Aprilia RST 1000 (Both Ferrari and Aprilia look like sweet rides. I do have a thing for sports station wagons.)

Corvette. About the same weight to HP ratio, holds two (max), doesn't carry much luggage, but it's a helluva lot of fun to get out and putter around in.

I know I said that I think the VFR is like the Accura TL. I still think so. Now, that said, I think it is funny what KC said cause I have a BMW 3 series and a VFR and I think they are both fit me just right.

    Hmm

    I'm thinking M5 a good fit. whats that in Japan a Q45?

then theres the Nissan GTRs. any one of the r32,33 34, and now the 35 as they fit the VFR in generation.

Then theres a certain Audi turbo wagon that's pretty close with what the 6th gen is all about
For me, My 4th gen and this MR2 turbo I got, man they sure do complement each other.

I'm thinking BMW M5... Comfy, Fast, Capable of long distances, a little heavy, and can carry some extra cargo.

One comparison that I don't think has been thrown out it the Porsche Cayenne. Nobody would say that the Cayenne is the best SUV on the road, but it is a really good one. As well, nobody would say that it is the sportiest ride out there, but it is a Porsche and can get up and go (especially with the more powerful engine options). In this sense, it quickly rises to the top as one of the best all around vehicles....part practical, part kick-a$$.

I think this relates well to the VFR.

My 2000 VFR is like my 2000 Honda Prelude.

Both holds two comfortably with a small amount of gear.
Both are quick and very fun to drive.
Both are incredibly interesting both electronically and mechanically.
Both handle great but aren't a dedicated sports type.
Both have had very similiar timelines. <-this ones kinda creepy.

I own a tuned Audi S4 with 420hp. My VFR is very similiar, extemely fast, great handling, and enough comfort to do some distance. Not a Ferrari, not a Lincoln, but the perfect mix of both. Definately not an Accord, as both the VFR and the S4 bring big smiles, albeit for differant reasons!

I've been following this post and trying to put my own thoughts together on the subject. Then during lunch today I looked out the parking lot, and parked alongside by VFR was a silver Jaguar sedan, and my brain said -- that's it, excellent comparison.

One of my cars is a 350Z. Seems like another good comparison. The GTs really do seem to be a good comparison point:

    - heavier than a true sports car (Zs do NOT feel light)
    - torquier than a true sports car
    - setup for high speed big sweepers vs. tight back to back turns
    - nice and comfy (my z's fully loaded, and is about the most comfortable thing I've driven, it's awesome on trips up Hwy1...)

    Other GTs:

    - vettes
    - the larger ferraris
    - maseratis
    - BWM M3/5

S2000 is pure sport, as are miatas. I don't think the US has a real sports car aside from maybe the solstice/sky. Mustangs are muscle cars, don't ask them to turn. GM only makes GTs, and calls them sports cars. sports cars need to be light, and nimble. But then even the solstice was hammered in reviews for being too heavy for what it was trying to be.

    just my odd thoughts...

I think that a Harley = Golf Cart. They both don't go very fast, can tip over easily, not made very well, and there is a decent chance the person driving is drunk.
