on the fence about a set of staintunes vs gutting... anyone able to speak to which gives the better sound..

finding staintunes used is like finding a needle in a haystack..:frown: new they cost over a grand and then shipping and most likely duty to get em to my door here on the east coast.

One thing to consider other than just the sound is the weight savings.
I don't have Staintunes but I do have aftermarket Pipes from Devil and I will tell you there is a considerable weight difference between the two.
I think the Devil system is about 10 pounds. I dont know exactly how much the stock system weighs but it felt much heavier when I compared them side by side. I have heard the Staintunes and they Sound Great.

IMO, the staintunes sound better but the cost diff is quite a consideration. I am a pretty cheap batard so if it was me, most likely I'd gut the stock ones, but if I had the money and wasn't gonna upgrade things like suspension, brakes, seat, etc. then I'd probably go for the pipe. Or maybe go with another less expensive pipe option then upgrade some of the others, too. although once you get as much money into your bike as I have in mine, it hurts to think of what the bike is worth to the insurance man if something should happen to it...

I only owned the bike untill my first weekend off work before I finally gave in and gutted them.
