    Hello, everybody!

Well, the forecast is for sunny skies and mid-70s, so I am intending to pack up and head for Daytona Beach on Friday (3/6/09). The girlfriend is back home (i.e. out of town) so I am free to travel with my trusty steed. I'll be returning home on Sunday.

This is the last weekend of Daytona Bike Week, and I would love to see the action. The problem? Hotel rooms are ridiculous for one person. Anyone already there or intending to head down and want to share a room?

I know there was another thread on the bike week but it was a more general thread. I'm looking specifically for a hotel room split or at least someone that knows a good campsite where I can sleep on the cheap.

Are you gonna make it in time for the 200 race?

I'm not working this month but I just found that out, so no time to plan but was thinking about going.

Bike is apart right now getting new front end parts though, besides, that's a bit of ride for me. Its pretty far just from here to your place.

If you want to take your car instead , I could drive down to Chattanoogie and meet up with you, split the costs, I really wanted to catch the 200 race .

I know its spur of the moment and all, pm me if you want to talk more

I had given up on the whole thing till I saw your post, just because I couldnt find anyone going and it was so late to be doing it.

Hmmm...That's a possibility. I was looking to ride because of the weather, and the fact my "nice" car gets pretty horrid gas mileage as well. It's definitely a thought, though, and I will ponder that one.

No worries Casey, I can definitely understand wanting to ride.

My bike wont be back on the road by then though, it goes to the shop tomorrow. The 200 race is Mar 6 at 8 pm so I would want to be there by then. It must be 8hrs or so to daytona from your house.

I could rent us a good mileage car out of Chatanooga

I have an old Toyota truck with a topper that I use as a daily driver ( not so great mileage) and Momma needs her car cause she's got a dog thing going on that weekend. When I do long trips I usually rent, that way I dont care what happens to the car.....haahaa

But again dont sweat it, I had given up on it anyway, so if it works out , it would be cool, but I have about a million other things I should be doing......heeehhee

Hey daytona beach is my hometown, beware those harley riders generally aren't really friendly toward the "rice burners" as they like to call them.

My recommendation is to book up a hotel a little outside the edge of daytona beach like in ormond beach, port orange, etc... it can be a real pain in the :moonie: to find a hotel that isn't outrageously expensive plus you'll have to deal with a lot of traffic.

I know that you're intending on going for daytona beach but if you get bored check out new smyrna beach, the downtown is really cool and there are quite a few sights to check out!

Oh, and make sure to watch your speed. The cops are pretty strict about speed limits especially the 25 mph zones. :mod:

have fun there! Wish I could come along but i got work.

If you brought your tent and sleeping bag, try Tomoka Farm road just west of I-95 and Speedway Blvd interchange. Plenty of room in the camp sites along this road. Your Llama will have plenty of room to graze.

I found it! I found a campground with plenty of openings and good reviews on Google for $20/night per person and no minimum stay. It's 2 miles from the speedway and 7 from Main Street.

vfourbear...Feel free to call/text for details if you want to meet.
