Gang, Hope all is well. I logged onto the WSBK site to find air times but did not get any info. Turned on Speed TV, scrolled through the guide, found race one coming on at 5:00pm Sunday evening. WTF! Every type of NASCAR aka Pro-Wrestling on Wheels programing is on. There are programs discussing pit crew underware, Sunoco gas versus diesel fuel from the 1930s and Banked Turns versus flat tracks. <all are super hyped> Come on folks, lets bomb their site with complaints. Speed Vision focused on all racing but these jerks only care about fake racing! (some times it is real) Doesn't this piss you off? Later, JD
Okay...I am crazy Just a follow up. I can't expect you guys to complain to Speed TV if I don't. Here's my e-mail to them so where's yours? Dear Speed TV, You suck! I have been a fan for years and a subscriber since SpeedVision days. Your coverage of NASCAR is a joke. Everyone in the motorsport industry laughs at how you cater to NASCAR coverage. We have American racers in Europe (Spies, Hayden, Hopkins, Edwards etc.) risking it all and we can't watch the racing because you dumba$# think the world rotates around NASCAR. Yeah, I'm into NASCAR but come on!!! Balance baby! You guys are missing balance. Go ahead and do it your way. But mark my words, you will lose market share and audience because you fail to live up to your name. SPEED TV should cover the motorsports spectrum, not just one series. Change or face going the way of the doo-doo bird. (Yeah I know, I should have used Poo-Poo bird so you would not be confused.) Big picture people! Big Picture!!!! Thanks, JD
Totally Agree! But. Here's how it works. SPEED pays for the shows, then sells advertisement time and trys to make a profit. Guess who shows a higher market share & thus higher ad rates. yup UUUUUUUnited STATES of gofast&turnleftbubba. (i like your wrestling analogy, BTW) and that's the way it is.....Febuary 28, 2009....... $ $ $
Leftcoast hit the nail dead on the head. It has nothing to do with coverage, and everything to do with money. And that, my friends and neighbors, is called capitalism. Ain't it grand?
Leanit,Speed Tv is scheduled to rebroadcast the FIM WSBK Races 1 & 2,and the FIM WSBK Supersport race on Tuesday morning March 3rd starting at 10am Eastern as part of their Two Wheel Tuesday thing. I'm with you though,it sucks not to be able to see the races live, but at least you do eventually get to see them. Capitalism at it's finest I guess.
NASCAR yes, but 24 hour NASCAR, NO! I check on NASCAR occasionally, too. But all day everyday is just silly. Since we all have TiVo/DVR why can't they squeeze it in at 2AM? I watch the racing even if I know the result. Also, like the dude said, they sell the airtime. It is actually not that much to put a 1 hour show on cable late night. Check out the programming after midnight! For a couple hundred thousand dollars, all the moto racing series could PAY to have their product on US television. Crazy to pay, you say!!!???? That's how you build a fan base (did everyone here pay for their first hit of coke? I didn't.) and then you you transition to asking for money after the marketing stats and Nielsen ratings come in. I'm looking for patience and vision from the high commissars. Everybody is waiting for the magic bullet. And if it wasn't Nicky Hayden on a Honda, don't know what a magic bullet looks like.
I cant find a hole in your logic You could sell anything you wanted around here if you put Nicky on the label. And dont mention coke.........unless you got some
Thanks stoshmonster and I will set my DVR before nodding off. Now if I can keep from looking at the results...oh the hell with it. I will know who won and be glad I got to see any two wheeled racing, period
Hello, Louisville! Thanks for hearing me! My best example is from Chicago. The Cubs stunk through the 70's and up until '84. Every single game was on WGN because they had no other programming (pre-cable. I watched a lot of "I Love Lucy" and "Three Stooges") The Cubs grew into a nationwide phenomenon because we all watched their games on day time TV when we were growing up. On the other hand, the Chicago Blackhawks investigated pay-per-view in the early stages of cable. Old-Skool owner B. Wiertz transitioned into blacking out all home games because he wanted a payday. Me and my middle-school buddies had been to the stadium 2-3 times a year, until we turned 15, and then we all turned our backs on NHL hockey. TV is advertising for the product, it is not the product. whatever.
Does anyone use the SBK website? I was looking on there and it appears that you can watch the races/super poles online. However, when I click on them is give me a video message that I am not authorized to watch. Does anyone know why this is?
Also it claims that you can watch the race live on their website, but I still get the message that I do not have authorization to watch. Do you have to sign up somewhere or pay a fee? I can not find anywhere to do either.
According to speedtv.com WSBK Philip Island Race 1 today at 4 PM EST. WSBK Philip Island Race 1 3/3/09 12:00 PM EST, Race 2 1:00 PM EST. Go to www.speedtv.com and click on schedule, then search criteria FIM World Superbike and it will bring up the whole schedule. Disclaimer: Schedule is probably subject to change.
Sorry Bassturds Yeah, Why don't they air the Barrett Jackson auction two days later? I mean even the golf channel has better coverage of motorcycle racing! Well not really but I think everyone understands my beef. On another site, a member said I should be polite and professional. Okay. Please Fox Sports/SpeedTV - air live or slightly taped delayed motorcycle racing!
Just got back from Latin America trip. I watched the South American Speed Channel a couple of times (in Spanish). What a difference! Just like the old Speed channel. Tons of racing (DTM, rally, etc). I'm also getting fed up with the crap they show now and e-mailed them about it (of course no reply). I just download the races now and watch them.
I hear you race two was on at 4am tue eastern time glad i have dvr. you can watch online at WSBK but there is a 72 hr delay before you are authorized to watch it. last year was free and the year before you had to pay. I have sent E mail to WSBK to confirm it will be free to watch this year but no reply as of yet. Also MotoGP site has a deal to watch on thier site just wait untill first two races are run on tv and it is like $20.00 to watch GP races on site ( of course after they are aired in tv ) only 24 hr delay. I've complained to speed many times in past few years of their cruddy coverage of AMA races - They just don't care ) :
Does anyone have an email address (ANY email address) for Speed TV? I say email address because it's more direct than using a web page on their website to "contact" them. Those forms are submitted to an anonymous email account that is checked periodically...usually once a day....or less. I figure if we have a legitimate email address to someone at Speed, we can ALL send an email to that address. Maybe that will, at least, get their attention. They may just disable/delete the email address but at least our message will have been received. I've "contacted" them through their website regarding their horrid motorcycle coverage and got absolutely nothing, zilch, zippo back in response. So I say, we raise our efforts to get them to hear us. If Bubba and Skeeter can get 60+ hours EVERY week highlighting their redneck stars turning left all day, then I say we can put some pressure on these clowns to realize there is more to life than Nascar. I really miss the days of Speed Vision when it was a more balanced schedule. I realize things change, companies get purchased etc. But dammit Gumby, WE are their audience too! .
