    Hi guys,

I have a 1986 VFR750F and am looking for some higher bars to make things a bit easier on my bad back. Companies that make them these days only have them for the latest model bikes, and I can't afford to have a set custom made.

Does anyone out there have any?
Know of another model bike where the bars could be swaped straight over?
know any other way/place I could get hold of some?

    I'm in Queensland, Australia

Also looking for a single seat cowl as well (dark blue) but not urgent at this stage

    Any help appreciated :)

When I purchased my 86' VFR750, the previous owner had raised the stock clip ons up about an inch on the fork tubes. Just below the top snap ring. He rode it like that with no problems and I've ridden it pretty hard in that position with no issues. It moves them up out of the notched area but they seem alright and haven't moved on me yet. I think it raised them maybe half inch to an inch.
    Definatley more comfortable though.

If those are 39 mm fork tubes like the 83 vf750f I have some extra air cross-over collars that work nicely as risers almost an inch tall.

Thanks for the replys guys :)

Yonan: I checked the bike and they are already at the very top of the fork tubes, so no more room to move unfortunately.

Risoto: Not sure on the fork width - will check the workshop manual. Not familiar withe air crossover collars you are talking about but will try and find out about them.

Like I mentioned, no more room at the top of the forks so may need a bar with a longer stem?

LSL makes a really slick setup that allows you to get rid of the clipons and ad superbike style clamp on bars. Theyre a bit spendy, around 320 for and 86 vfr750, But you could then add whatever type or height of bars you wanted for relitively cheap. Heres a link, just select your make and model.

    Thanks Packman :)

Hadn't heard of these before - they're a brilliant idea! I'll look into the costs of these and new bars, and also if they will post to Oz - a lot of businesses in the USA won't do it.

A great solution for any other bike I buy in the future as well - may not have to give up the sports/sports tourers altogether after all.

    cheers

Hey v4bloke, I had a "86 VFR w/ those clamps w/ superbike bars, they fit perfect and if you add a taller windscreen you will also get more wind protection, Kenji P.S. Back in the 80's they only offer the mounts, so you had to get the upper triple machined to match the mounts.
