Hi everyone, I've searched and searched....

I want to have my lower chin cowel (which I found on ebay) and my lockhart fairing (in the photo) painted. How or Who would anyone recommend. I've heard talk of Maaco, but when I mention it, I get mixed reviews.

Any and all help is always appreciated!

DO NOT USE MAACO!!! All they know is scuff and spray. Try checking around your local paint and body shops to see who has done show cars and hot rods those guys want them prefect. They should have photos of there work. I have a Great painter here in N.C. but he stays realy busy! GOOD LUCK!!!

    why not DIY with colorrite?

I recently did my whole bike with better than OEM results... the secrets are:
    1. prep
    2. cleanliness
    3. setup time (and taking your time)
    4. compatible primer/paint/clear

    Mayco?

As my25th stated DO NOT USE MAYCO. I have a very trusty shop here in Ohio, but don't know of anyone in your area. Any decent paint shop should be able to paint that for you, I'd ask you friends, family, and co-workers whom they've used in the past.

I agree with all of the above with the exception of "I recently did my whole bike with better than OEM results"

That I call :bs: on. Prior to my current career I was an automotive painter for 15 years and made a fine living at it. NO rattle can job would be better than a MODERN OEM finish, unless the bike/car/watercraft/whatever was painted outside in a field in Pakistan. Regardless of quality of materials, rattle can is not > OEM. I'm sure what was done is presentable, but better than a modern OEM finish? Delusional, sorry.

Now if you are careful and take your time DIY for a lower fairing can be just fine. Give it a shot, you'll be really satisfied if it comes out well....GL:thumbsup:

on edit: If you're talking about that Schwinn 3 speed in your profile than I totally agree with your "better tha OEM" statement.

Thanks everyone...I'll have to check around my area for local shops. I don't dare DIY....that's just asking for trouble. Well at least for me. Well, once I can find someone I'll be sure to update. Thanks!
