    I've whooped a few R6's with my '94 VFR...
    On Shinko 006's...

At least one of the R6's was very new, with PVM mags and all sorts of other baubles and bling and go-fast goodies - apparently not fast enough...

It takes work and determination, but with skillz it can be done! :ninja:

I think the VFR's best attribute is the tractable torque from way down low - it's forgiving of gear selection and allows early and hard acceleration out of corners, but the converse is that you need revs for the HP that you'll need to stay with (or in front of...) the R6 on the straights.

Stay up tight to his back wheel (assuming he gets in front of you), and accelerate earlier and harder than him, trusting the VFR's torque and forgiving chassis, and show him a wheel inside when entering corners.
The R6 will outbrake the heavier VFR (and outperform in every way, frankly) , but push him to make a mistake and be ready to pounce.
    Use pressure and intimidation.

Frankly, you need to do everything just right, but I know it's possible - I know of a few R6 riders that don't really have much to say to me anymore!!

Oddly, I think the best road for you to beat him will be the curvier the better, to equalize his HP/top end advantage.
A lesser rider will make up for poor cornering skills by using the HP on the straights.
You just can't argue with less weight and more HP, but you can beat poor skills...

I just remembered something I used to say about my FIAT X 1/9: "It ain't about going fast on the straights; it's about not slowing down for the corners!"

    Darkhorse:

I'm with betarace on this one too.

Take it to the track. Do a track day togethrr with your R6 buddy and shut him down.

I highly recommend a more 'technical' track near you in Canada.

I let my good friend Jeff borrow the 97 I ride for a track day last August at the Summit-Jefferson track in West Virginia. That track is small and technical and Jeff has a great shot of himself coming out of turn 10 with a newer R6 on his butt. He battled this guy all day he told me and the R6 just could not match the mid-range the VFR had. At least for that rider. Jeff told me they talked in the pits more than once becasue they started to battle it out on the track having a good time. Jeff said the R6 finally got by him when he missed a shift LOL!

Looks like betaraces pic above is at turn 10 at Summit-Jefferson.

Darkhorse tell you buddy that: "A monkey can go fast in a straight line".

    It doesn't prove anything...

Shannonville is only 45 mins away from here. Call him out on a track day!
