Changed my mind and before I changed my mind again I just placed a order for the DMS-20PC-1-DCM and a Mounting Bezel for it cause it will be easier to get to work. I'm thinking I'm going to remove the clock and put in it's location since I have a clock on my GPS and cell phone. LOL now I have to figure out what I can use the clock adjustment buttons for......... Hmmmm, Maybe a on/off for the meter if it's to bright at night.

My FZ1 has a voltage readout built into the cluster, technically, you have to enter self diagnostic mode to view it, but it's there. Come to think of it, do the 6th gens have a self diagnostic mode? The one on my FZ1 is rediculous, you can have it fire spark plugs, actuate fuel injectors, give you the TPS readout, etc. etc.

I am looking to do a similar mod on my 5th gen(final touches). I plan on mounting a digital voltage gauge out side the cluster though to the left on the black cluster shroud. My question is I want one with a blue back light and also I want to change out the speedo, tach, and digital readout on the cluster with blue instead of the stock green. The digital readouts are not a problem for parts but I can not find a company that will make the speedo and Tach lenses for a 5th gen vfr. Anyone know of a company that makes these for my beloved 5th gen????

Ok my meter arrived today. SLOVFR can you please detail on how/what/why you connected your meter to. I'm still considering what I may use the buttons that use to adjust the clock for now that I don't need them for the clock. I'm also still considering what or if I may use the area to the right of the clock area next to the neutral light. So it will be some time before I do my meter in less some one gives me a good idea on both.

I have a power outlet mounted on my upper tripple that is connected to the battery via a relay. I connected the power wire to that so I knew what the voltage is straight from the battery without loosing any voltage in the factory harness. Be sure to measure twice and cut once. I find cutting smaller than needed and filing up is always better.

After removing the clock I found out I have pletny of space for the meter with no cutting and will have to mount it by filling the area in some how. I will have to enlarge the window the clock looked threw though on the black dash board plate though. I like your idea on going directly to the battery and via relay.

I haven't used yet and may even be able to find it if I look hard enough threw my undone gadget stuff. It may fit in the area to the right I mentioned.

Nice job Slovfr! I was just considering where and how to put a gauge on my 2000 but I don't see anywhere near a nice as your mounting location. Has anyone put one on a 5th gen? If so, can you post up some pics as well? Thanks...

Nice, I LOVE CLEAN WORKMANSHIP, it looks very professional. Come to think of it, only an owner of the machine would do that nice of a job. If you went to a bike shop and had them determine placement and then install I'LL bet it would not come close to comparing.
My Dad always used to say to me, " Son, if you want it done right ,do it yourself. Thank God I am pretty handy with stuff like that. And I am not at all trying to take away from your beautiful job. eddie

I've put one on my '99. I installed a Datel to the left of the dash down on the flat part of the fairing. Not my first choice but the options are limited. I don't have any pics on hand but can get some if you want to see. Personally I think it looks fine, not that noticeable. Not in the class with this set up but it works.

Yep, that's where I put mine. But I went with the blue instead of the red.

LOL I don't have much to show. I have removed the clock and placed the meter in it's place on my spare/broken dash and it will fit no problem. I'm waiting for a rainy day...warmer to get to my dash on my bike I guess.:reg:
