I sent an email to my local dealer asking for a quote on the install of Honda hard cases and he called back, left a message with my wife, and said those cases had been discontinued but he was going to check other manufacturers to see if they had cases that came close.

    Anybody else heard the same?

Try David Silver (http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk) in the UK. I have ordered stuff from them in the past, great service and the packages actually get to Canada quickly!

I ordered a set for my '08 last month, certainly not discontinued. I wonder if the problem is getting the color for your specific year?

No, they aren't discontinued. I just ordered a set of '08's and they're coming out of the Toronto warehouse.
What year is your bike? Maybe the problem is that there are none left in the color scheme for your year.

id say you need another dealer. one of the best selling features of a newer 6th gen VFR is matching hard bags
If i can install them then anyone can its not that hard a couple hr job for a novice.

tip keep all bolts as loose as possible when installing makes it much easier to line up all the bolt holes

Thanks for the install tip. Nice bike Insider. Of course I have the exact same one.....minus the Staintune exhaust and sticker.

I agree with runnerhiker...the color match maybe the problem. I ordered a set for my 07 RWB early last Spring and they were backordered. The parts guy checked with Honda and they said they were "looking for a new supplier" ??? No kidding I saw the reply.

Anyway...I didn't expect to see any last summer but happily they showed just a few weeks later. BTW they are an excellent addition. They hold every bit as much as my ST1100 bags, including my Schoei helmet.

I also just ordered in some RWB (pearl blue) OEM bags last month and received them from Honda's Atlanta warehouse in two days.

I bought the 06 Pearl whites and installed them on my 07 RWB VFR. Installed in about a half an hour (but that was in front of my toolbox at work, if I woulda been at home, it'd be an hour minimum!). At that time my guy told me there were plenty of the white boxes availalbe and no 07 blue boxes. Then a week later his warehouse (regional distributor for that dealer) had the blue boxes in.

I could see the previous model year bags being discontinued, but certainly not out of stock by any means.

I had a buddy who just got some cases not too long ago. Most dealers don't have any in stock, would have to order them. As for the install, it is very easy. I use mine all the time, I take the brackets on/off quite a bit too. Takes about 5-10 minutes.
