Hi everyone. Had an issue riding in the rain the other day.... I was riding down the freeway at 70 , and my "FI" light came on. At that moment, my bike cut out, as if I hit the KILL switch. It lasted about 2 seconds, I never let off the throttle. All of a sudden, the bike kicked back to life, as if nothing ever happen. The bike ran perfect the next 10 miles home. Since then I have rode a few more times, accumulating 100 miles or so. I checked everything I could think of, nothing seems out of place. So question is, has anyone experienced this? Was it the heavy rain? Thanks in advance.

I experienced this last summer but not in the rain. It was on a hot summer day 98 degrees and I was running the hell out of the bike 100+ mph for about 20 miles. The only thing I could come up with was vapor lock. It's never happened to me again.

FI = fuel injection? Could your injectors have suddenly shut off for some reason?

My neighbor down the street commutes daily on his bike. He thinks maybe the front two plugs got too wet and caused an issue. I can not find one loose wire or what seems to be a bad connection. I'll keep riding the bike and see what happens. Tried searching the forums, but didn't come up with much.

If the FI light has come on, try connecting the check plug and read the flashes on the dash.

Well tried using the jumper to get the "FI" light to blink and get any codes. The light went solid, which my book says that means no codes present. So once again, still no answer as to what happen that day. I'm going to be doing plugs here soon, I will look everything over again.

Maybe the cut of switch got wet? Like rain got down in the switch housing?

Drewl, that's a good point, never thought of that. The wierd part is, I ride in the rain all the time, never had an issue.

Well did my spark plugs. The coils all looked good. One of the bolts holding the coils down was loose on the back left side cylinder. All the rubber gaskets around the coils to the valve covers looked good and no cracks. I'll keep riding and see what happens......
