Its time for a new chain and sprockets for my bike. I have heard of going one tooth lower on the front sprocket and two teeth higher on the rear. I want more bottom end low end power. Faster acceleration from 1k RPM's till Vtec kicks in.

Will lowering the front sprocket by one tooth and increasing the rear by 2 accomplish this? Also what negatives or possible negatives could I incur by alternating the sprocket teeth? I'm not concerned with gas mileage dropping, I'm concerned with it affecting reliability of the engine, transmission, or any other wear parts.

    Thanks
