If anybody is looking for a good helmet for not alot of money, a friend of mine here at the Hard Rock gets good helmets in bulk at great prices. They are DOT and only $60.00!! I know we all have much more expensive helmets already, but these are great for new riders, passengers, or just to have an extra helmet around. Can't beat the price. He also has jackets and gloves. He's been selling them here locally, but recently got a website going. If you need a helmet for street or dirt, he's got great prices!! If you contact him, let him know I sent you!

not bad. Does he have a link to the DOT approval? There have been a bunch of helmets made locally, they said they were DOT approved, but DOT never approved them.

Okay, call me stupid... I didn't realize there was a link where you check for DOT status. Do you know what/where this is? Also, I know the helmets are made in China, which might indicate substandard materials or manufacturing, but it was my understanding that rules were MORE strict for those helmets manufactured outside the US, then imported, and they could NOT be imported unless they had met the safety requirements.

You're not allowed to import/sell helmets that don't meet DOT, but that doesn't stop people. IE, German-style half helmets with spikes are always illegal, there aren't many Full-Face helmets that aren't legit, however.
