I used to own a 87 VFR 700, bought it in 00, sold it in 07 (Always regretted it). This morning I got up early, I'm surfing Craigslist, searching for sport bike to strip down in order to build a streetfighter. As I'm browsing, I see an ad posted for a 87 VFR 700...I click on the ad, as it opens...I noticed this bike looks like my old one.

After exchanging an email or 2 with the owner, I asked him a couple of detailed questions about it. Low and behold, it's THE VFR I sold to someone else 2 years ago.

Went to the bank, got some cash...picked it up this afternoon. Out of any bike I've ever owned, it was always my favorite.

Now she's sitting next to the ZRX that I replaced it with, and a recent Buell purchase.

She has a few more miles on her, a little dirty, 1 or 2 more minor scrapes. I really don't care, she's back where she belongs. She's the queen of the garage...again.

I've always wondered what happened to the Pearl White 93 I sold to a guy in PA?

Thats a cool reunion! I had a '76 landcruiser fj40 I redid from the ground up that I sold and ALWAYS regreted it but I needed the cash at the time. I saw one for sale a while back and I know it was my old one by the pics but I didn't investigate it because we just had our new baby and I new it would have only led to more heartache. :hangme:

    Glad your deal worked out...

The Rex is a 01 1200, non-green. I bought it less than a week after the Vif went down the road. The Buell came along 2 months ago.

Advantage 87 VFR...throttle all the way back...all the way through the rpm range. It stays planted...every time. Rex and Buell are horizontally challenged depending how how spirited they are being ridden. Respect is the key word.

VFR is very predictable, every time...even at 22 years old.

Pics of the Rex and Buell...need to get some of the Vif. Not pretty...it's in need of some restoration.

Hey thanks for the offer, but if that's your 93 in your avatar, then most likely its not the one I had.

I put a Vance * Hines SSR2 slip on on the bike, and there a some dings and scratches on the lower left panels that I clear coated over.

    Thanks though:wink:

Fancy seeing you here. Congrats again! But if I start seeing you at the volkswagen forums too I'll know your just stalking me. It's funny The guy I got my bike from went and got an 07 vfr800 right after he sold me his 87 both all white. I swear he casts covetous looks in my general direction when he thinks I'm not watching.

It's great to get an old bike back... did the same with the old Ducati in the avatar (some of the story in Introductions if you haven't seen it... hi everyone!). Sold it in 1985 and got it back in 2004!

Have just bought an 89 VFR750F-K, 20 years and 69000 miles, and can see why you'd want it back. It definitely feels like a keeper.

Congratulations... enjoy putting it back to the way you remember it (and don't count the cost!)
