I'm seriously considering buying a 93 VFR as my first bike. It's cheaper than any other bike that I've consider so far and feel that if I take it slow and easy, I can confidently ride the thing in time. I'm not concerned about dropping the thing as there is already a crack under the seat. I just don't want to kill myself or anyone else. I'm an older rider (31) and will take it easy. However, I'm a little concerned about how the bike would fit me. I'm at the low end of fitting a VFR at 5'6", 165lb, and 30in inseam. I'm afraid the reach may be too much for me though. Therefore, I'd like to send a request out to anyone living in the Seattle area if I can sit on their 3rd gen VFR? The bike I'm considering buying is 8 hours away and it would suck if I got their and the bike is too much of a reach for me.

Kudos to Seattle for being such a great VFRW member!

Good luck to The Philosopher, I think you will find the bike will fit you ok. I am baaaarely 5'2 and was able to make my 87 work. Remember, if it is pretty close you can always modify the seat without sacrificing the bike's handling or your wallet!

The thread title made me look. I thought it might be something funny that happened in public. It's cool to see it's serious request. Good job stepping up fellas!

+1 to another board member going out of his way to help another potential Viffer rider!

Great idea wanting to sit on the bike first. I don't think you'll have any problem with the 3rd Gen. I have both a 3rd Gen and 6th Gen and the older bike is definately smaller and more manageable IMO.

    Regards,
    Rollin

I'd be interested to hear the sitter-onner's verdict.

I got to sit on Seattle's 3rd gen today. It's one sweet ride. I tip toe on the thing, but it's not bad. The reach was better than I thought. If this gen has the "triangle mod" I may flat foot the bike afterwards. I'd offer to buy it from him but he wasn't interested in selling. Now the search continues for a gen 3.
