I can't wait to get back on the road soon, but as I see the frosty roads in the morning I'm reminded that my grapefruit size nads are in the mail, and not likely to arrive for a month or two :)

Sounds like fun. I will be jealous, however, as I really wanted an '07 RWB, but could only afford my '98. I love it, and it was not much of a compromise as it is a great bike in of itself. I do need to get a corbin seat and heli bars, as I get a pinched nerve in my hip after a bit of riding that travels down my right leg. I hope that takes care of it. I haven't had the guts to tell my wife yet as she would just laugh at me and ask why I had to buy a "young" person bike :) Not that it would matter...it would occur on my '85 Magna after long rides...I'm just older now. I'm just having a hard time coming up with the proper excuse why I need the new seat and bars :)

Sell her some BS about it making the grip better so it's more safe- she does want you to be as safe as possible while riding a motorcycle which is inherantly dangerous doesn't she?

Riding in cold weather with possibility of ice/snow always represents a new chapter in riding technique. Please find below an example of how one should ride when confronted with snow/ice...

    Nice and easy does it...

Yes we rode anyway; I have been on the open road when it started snowing and rode fifty miles before we got snowed in, you can ride in cold weather if you are careful, which we were.

What kind of tires are you running?
Sport Touring tires tend to do better in cold weather than really sporty tires.

I used to ride 12 months of the year in NY.

Riding in the cold with ice and snow is very possible, but you have to adjust your riding style. I'm no motorcycle guru, but I enjoyed riding enough to learn how to ride in cold weather.

As for the ice, it's actually rideable, you just have to maintain your current course and keep your inputs static. Just don't try to turn or stop on ice.

Fortunately, I lived in an area of NY that was heavily populated, so although temps get low, not much ice forms on the roads, and they're salted pretty often. The shoulders and side roads can be dicey at times though.

Also, for the fogging, have you tried fog-x? Make sure you check with the manufacturer first though, I had an HJC and they confirmed that rain-x and fog-x was safe for their visors. A balaclava or foggy-mask helps a lot too.
