anyone know if you can change a 97's rear fairing and taillights to a newer body style. does the wiring match up? do the bolt patterns match stuff like that.

Quick answer is no. The subframe is different. Long answer is if you throw enough money at it, anything can be done.

Check this link out for putting a 6th gen tail on a 4th gen. Matt was a great help. (just copy and paste). I think it looks killer. I might do it to mine (I have a 94) Matt told me it cost him around $600 for the swap and yes you can use your stock wire harness, the lights plug right in.

    2010 Vfr?

IF HONDA would build this with matching luggage (city and touring would be nice) and the injected engine w/the gear driven cams, I'd buy one tomorrow.

I would do the same. If I remember right, I think the rear mod cost around $600 (with stock exhaust) and front was around $1200. I think he got most of the parts off ebay.
I would do the "Frankenviffer" if something ever happened to my bike (I hope it doesn't happen!).

OK, start with a 5th gen (2000 or so), add rear rom VTEC, and baggage bolts on.

The front end is off a CBR600RR, if you want to swap. USD forks from several sources, easiest is the RC51, CBR929-954 bunch.

    Go for it.
