    HI, newbie to the group. Hava ? about an alternate throttle tube for a 2001, looking for a steel or aluminum one as mine changes dimension slightly with heated grip pads under the grip etc... Any info greatly appreciated!

    Tom, I don't have a answer for you but it's a really good question. I've been thinking of getting heated grips myself and wondered if it would soften the throttle tube. I have read that there is a right and left side heating element and that one gets hotter than the other. Is your throttle tube trashed or only a problem when the heat is on? ~mike

    I looked into this subject very briefly awhile ago and decided to revisit it after I saw your post.

    One thing I do know, billet or race type parts, such as, aluminum throttle tubes are hard to come by without exhaustive reasearch. I have been quite successful cross referencing part numbers for the VFR over to more sport or race oriented Honda models. I have found out a couple things about the VFR, quite a few of the parts for switch gear and other non motor related pieces are common between the VFR (2002-2006), the CBR600F4 (2000-2006), and the VT1000R (2005).

    The Honda part numbers for the throttle tube are as follows:

    2002-2006 VFR800/RVT1000R (RC51) 53140-MCF-000
    2000-2006 CBR600F4 53140-MY9-890
    2005 VTR1000R 53140-MY9-890

    this is the breakdown for the Honda part code for the CBR and VTR:

    53 = Function Number
    140 = Component Number
    MY9 = Product Code, this indicates the first time that the product was used and which model it was used in. Honda often has different product numbers for the same part based upon the supplier, or slight differences in the part
    890= Classification Code, which is used to indicate various suppliers, or improvements, to the same part.

    The parts from these models didn't match, so i tried the RVT1000R, RC51 (using the MC4 Product Code) and they match perfectly. I would look for an aluminum throttle tube for a 2000-2006 RC51 and you will have what you are looking for...I'm going to go do a search for one of my own right now..Good Luck!

    Hi, thanks for the replies etc..

    It was indeed my induced problem of a warped tube...I installed Moose pads that I did not insulate between the pads and the tube causing the tube to change shape. As a fix I have a new tub coming etc... As a note, the Moose tubes are 19.95 ea and come with three wire leads gnd and hi/low leads for wiring to a three pos. switch. ie: common in the center and hi/low to the outer switch terminals...the Moose pads are very nice in that the wires come with flat insulation making for a clean install with zip ties etc... I made a simple z-shaped bracket which mounts to the two forward tank bolts, and extends over the top tripple tree etc.. I have also had great success with Western Power Sports p/n 4145 on other bikes at 20.00 per/pair (one heat range only) power came direct from the battery with two wires (fused hot) leading along the right frame tube up to the switch etc...note, be-carefull that you don't leave the switch on!
