Way ahead of you on that one, in fact I did just that about 6 years ago. The Hindle system had some issues that I want to clean up as well. At quantity of 10 the cost for the header only was $1200-1500. Now you know why I never make anything more than a couple of prototypes.

That said, I haven't completely given up. Over the years since I've come to realize that I need a mandrel bender specifically for this type of work. I designed one up and have been slowly building it up. I'm making a bigger push to get it done this winter. We'll see if it actually happens, but just in the last two weeks I've accomplished more than in the two years prior.....

another option i looked at is the mufflers that come from the buell blast (500) appear to be the same diameter as our stock outlets.... OR i put a lot of thought into kawasaki ninja 500 exhaust... basically same bike kinda sorta at least set up wise with exhaust exits... they make a badass exhaust by Sarachu for them. i almost go them but found my holeshot.

I don't think so. They still sell generic mufflers like them I think. I never liked the SuperTrapps, honestly.

VTR1000F or RC51 pipes are a pretty close match. The outlet/inlet size for those is a little larger than the 500 but that would be an easy thing to adapt to. The VF700/750/1000 guy can use the VTR or RC51 pipes with very minimal effort.

that would be the best course of action there, i just used what i had and it turned out good, i do believe that supertrapp still sells for the fj 1200. ive dont like super trapp either it just to get me by until i find my hindle exhaust.

i forgot you can adapt things cause i used CBR1100 Blackbird pipes before i got my holeshot! i got a thread on here somewhere too about that. its a great CHEAP setup cause you can buy the pipes stock used for 20 bucks easily. i got mine for 40 total. 20 for each pipe. makes a great sound and you dont have to rejet ran just like stock with a little better throttle response yet had a better sound which is what i was after mainly.

the pics look great too nice grab. good lookin bike OP.

i hope im not too late to this thread. Id like to keep the original exhaust on my 500 and i thought of drilling a few holes in the end caps around the main outlet. Would this give more flow resulting in a bit more power? Or would it just be worthless? By the way, ive got a Uni filter and Dyno Jet stage one coming.

now were are you going to drill these hole in the muffler or you just want to take the baffles out of them?

Any benefit to try VTR pipes? I just found some VTR Staintune slip ons for cheap. Some serious tunning required I assume...

And here is a question that needs answering. Can the baffles in the stock exhaust be removed and the reinstalled? HAS anyone ever actually removed them???

hmmm... i wasnt thinking of removing the entire baffle. I guess id have to drill out the rivets to do that. I was thinking of drilling 4 or 5 holes (1/4") into the baffle around the output hole. So if i did this, would the exhaust flow more?
Or should i just go and remove the baffle? But then how much louder would the exhaust get?

if you are looking for flow just remove the baffle, YES!! it will make it louder but it would give you better flow, ok now for the bad mybe i really dont know, but this also so could kill the power of the bike, and cause it to run lean. if i were you i would look for a hindle exhaust, or a set of slip-ons, i have both a hindle exhaust and a pair of supertrapps.
