After 4 years and 40,0000km I crashed the VFR yesterday - gravel on a blind corner. As it was slightly downhill, the bike slid for 40metres on its left side. Upper fairing badly scratched, lower fairing totalled. I was surprised how well the rest of the bike survived. I usually never run the pillion handles, but only had them on as I was doubling my son the previous week. The handle saved the entire rear of the bike - not a mark on the rear cowl or light.
Clutch lever, mirror and handlebar end not much else. Still I suppose it will come out around $1500 to repair.
Any other comments on the crash-worthiness of this model??

sorry to hear about your crash but glad to hear the damage wasn't too severe. I usually leave the handles off myself but your story will make me thing twice next time I'm getting ready to take them off and put on the cowl.

Sorry about the crash, but glad to hear you are ok. It looks like mine has been down before (previous owner maybe and previous damage to bodywork) and appears to have held up well.

    Hi Capt. John,
My 2000 VFR fell off a trailer at 30 mph and I had the grab bars on. They saved the rear cowl and seat. The bike actually was upside down. Both mirrors and the windshield were damaged, along with the whole left side fairing. The bike started right up and I put 750 miles on it over the next 2 days. I'm in the process of looking for parts.

Can someone point me in the right direction for getting some replacement bodywork for a 95 VFR? I may need an upper fairing and maybe a rear cowl.
I crashed my "new" VFR earlier today and while I may be able to repair most of what's damaged, I figured I would look into how much replacing the damaged parts will cost. Oh, and I broke my ankle in the crash....gravel and sportbikes....bad combination....argh....
