Alright, I have looked all over the internet to find the mirror spacers/extenders for the 2001 VFR and cannot find them. I assume they do not exist, so I email the company that makes and sells them on ebay for the 2002-2008 VFR's. I assume if we had enough interest/pre orders I could convince him to make a batch.

So who wants them. I assume they would be $25-30.00 for a set. Again, just gauging interest to see if this will be doable. I am getting tired of looking at my shoulders when I go to change lanes, how about you, are you in?

Will let you know what they say.
    Thanks
    Tom

Check over at VFRD.com or Honda VFR Club - powered by vBulletin. There are people there that make the extenders for the "y2k" non-rubber boot mirrors. Genmar stopped making them for "y2k" mirrors and now only make the 98-99 rubber boot mirror extenders.

I made a set for my '07 using corian backsplash. It is roughly 1/4" thick and I traced the mirror with a marker. I cut it with a small tabletop Jigsaw and then drilled it for the mounting bolts. You can use a file to make the edges smooth. I used a black felt tip marker to color the the edges and it's a perfect match. I used two on each side and it made a big difference.

I went to the Hardware store and they had longer socket head cap screws to make up the difference in length. I think the originals were 6 x 15mm and I went to 6 x 30mm. I was even able to upgrade to stainless steel. I needed four and they were 85 cents apiece.

The Corian I had left over from an old bathroom remodel. I'm sure you could pick up some scraps from a Kitchen / Bath remodeling shop for free. I am thinking of adding another one to each side to make it a hair wider. I might go from backsplash (1/4") to countertop which I am guessing would be about 1" to 1 1/2" then I only need one on each side and wouldn't have to stack the quarter inchers. This may be too thick and I would need even longer cap screws maybe 6 x 45mm.

    Hope this helps!

this is another solution. I learned this from tori. I have the parabolic mirror that they sell for trailers, etc in the top inside corner of my mirror. that's the area where your elbow normally is anyway. you can get the mirrors for a few bucks at walmart in the RV section and try them and see if you still need to stich the mirrors out. It helps remove any blind spot...

    2000 and 2001 mirror spacers

I had a few extra sets made when getting mine. Email me at r_nancy@bellsouth.net if you are interested in a set for your 2000 or 2001, non boot model. (They will not fit the 1998/1999 models with the boots. They are 35.00 shipped to the US, lower 48. Pictures are in the classified ads.
    Thanks
    Tom

Picked up tanrush's last set of mirror extenders a couple weeks ago, then ordered a new set of Y2K mirrors and gaskets from Service Honda.

The latter showed up yesterday, and I installed everything last night.

Thanks for the extenders, tanrush. Those look really nice, and I look forward to not having to flap my arms to see behind me ... :)
