I just wanted to take a few minutes to wish you all a Merry Christmas. When I first started VFRworld, there were only a handful of loyal members - some days there would only be 15-20 new posts made. To watch how much this site has grown over the past several years, and to see us go over 11,000 registered members, is truly amazing to me. It's especially special to see how much the international population has grown. We have members from all over the world, and it's really great to see the different cultures, different way of expressing ourselves (lamps to you!), and especially great seeing photos from great roads all over the world.

I know we have our share of drama from time to time, but I have to say that in my many years of participating in online communities (since long before the world wide web even existed!), I've never seen a more close-knit group of people with such positive vibes. We share a common interest that bonds us together, and the love of motorcycling, and one special bike, has made us evolve into a family.

There’s some exciting news going on in my personal life. My family and I are planning to move from California to Arizona in January. We’re moving to a city outside of Phoenix called Gilbert. I’ve lived most of my adult life in the Bay Area, so it’s going to be a big change for me, but it’s gotten so expensive to live here, especially with the economy in the tank, that moving to Arizona is a good financial move for me. Once I get settled, I’ll need someone to show me the Arizona twisties!

Anyway, I just want to thank you for making VFRworld such a great place to hang out. Seeing all the great exchange of information makes it all worth it. I especially want to thank my partners in crime – Reg, Derstuka, White Knight, and Shorty. I’m way too busy to keep up with all the posts, and these amazing folks are the grease that keep the wheels moving around here. I also want to thank all the others that have helped out throughout the years, including RVFR who was kind enough to provide VFRworld decals.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and I look forward to a fun and hopefully prosperous 2009!

    Your friend,
    Michael

I too made this same change many years ago. I wish you the best. Although I lived in AZ for 18 years, I never got the Bay Area out of my system and finally returned 5 years ago. Maybe at some point, you too will return.

Thank You, Good Fortune, and Merry Christmas, to You and your Family.

Gilbert is a nice place. I lived in Chandler for 9 years. My folks still live there in Ahwatukee.
Good luck to you and your family.

That's a real smart move not to mention fun. It's nice to get a change of scenery every now and then! I hope that the move goes well!

I'm pretty amazed too at how VFRworld has grown; I've met quite a few interesting characters both online and in person from this. I'm pretty sure there are some Arizona folks here and they'll be happy to show you some fun roads. It might help to threaten deleting their forum account ha ha!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, M. I guess now I'll have to ride over to AZ to meet you. I have been meaning to ride east and check out Sequoia nat'l park anyway so I'll cruise through there, then maybe stop in Vegas and then if I have any money left come out to AZ and find your ass! I may have to jump my VFR across the Grand Canyon while I'm out there...
